Mark 4:1 And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there
was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into
a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the
sea on the land.
-
Multitude = crowd.
-
On = upon
2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them
in his doctrine,
-
Matthew 7:28
And it came to
pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the
people were astonished at his doctrine:
-
Matthew 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto
him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is
given unto you
to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them
it is not given.
The Mysteries, the secrets or the things hither
to kept secret.
Because it is given unto, "those
that will be doer", "those that will act on it", and teach the word.
It is given to them that want to study and teach
God's word
If you can get one to hears God's word, it is important to God.
He loves
His children.
James 1:5 If any of you
lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to
all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it
shall be given him.
Romans 16:25 Now to him
that is of power to stablish you according to My
gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ,
according to the revelation of the mystery,
which was kept secret since the world began,
26 But now is made manifest, and by the
scriptures of the prophets, according to the
commandment of the everlasting God, made known
to all nations for the obedience of faith
God has told us many times, do not
listen to
anyone that turns you away
from the truth.
Do
not believe what any
man may teach you, unless you first check them out directly from
God's Word, which is unchangeable.
We know God has given us free
will to follow Him or Satan. It's up to you to study God's word.
This is why we're
living in this world today.
God needs to
know, if you love Him.
3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:
-
Notice the Word was sow = as a seed
-
Man teaches the word as a seed, It's God that
opens your eyes and hears to the truth.
-
There went out = This parable is repeated
in Luke 8:4 under different circumstances from
those in Matthew 13:3, which accounts for the
variation of wording.
-
Luke 8:4 And when much people were
gathered together, and were come to him out of
every city, he spake by a parable:
-
Matthew 13:1 The same day went Jesus out of the
house, and sat by the sea side.
2 And great multitudes were gathered together
unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat;
and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
3 And he spake many things unto them in
parables, saying, Behold, a sower went
forth to sow;
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by
the way side, and the fowls came and devoured
them up:
5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had
not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up,
because they had no deepness of earth:
6 And when the sun was up, they were
scorched; and because they had no root, they
withered away.
-
The consequent in Matthew and Mark is the
question of the Twelve concerning others who
asked the meaning.
-
In Luke the consequent is the question of the
Twelve as to its meaning (thus hearing it for
the first time), followed by the visit of His
kinsfolk.
-
Why should not a parable be repeated several
times?
-
Why need they be identical? and why should not
two accounts of the same be supplementary?
4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side,
and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.
-
Matthew 13:1 The same day went Jesus out of the
house, and sat by the sea side.
2 And great multitudes were gathered together
unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat;
and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
3 And he spake many things unto them in
parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to
sow;
-
They were scorched = Holy Spirit = The truth poured out
-
Revelation 16:8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial
upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with
fire.
-
4th vial poured out = The two witnesses are here on
earth, gathering the elect. (Revelation 11)
-
Scorch men with fire = Holy Spirit = The truth poured out
-
Hebrew 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.
-
Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one
accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty
wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it
sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with
other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Who has power?
God's two witnesses
Revelation 11:3 And I will give power unto my two
witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and
threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
My two witnesses, They shall
prophesy what? The word of God
The word "sun" is as in Genesis 15:17, and
connected with "righteousness" which Messiah,
the righteous One, alone can bring.
Mark 4:2 And he taught them many things
by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,
5 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth;
and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:
6 But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had
no root, it withered away.
7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked
it, and it yielded no fruit.
8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang
up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some
sixty, and some an hundred.
9 And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him
hear.
10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the
twelve asked of him the parable.
11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the
mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without,
all these things are done in parables:
-
It is given to know the mystery of the kingdom
of God: but unto them that are without, all
these things are done in parables
12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they
may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be
converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
13 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then
will ye know all parables?
14 The sower soweth the word.
-
Sower soweth the word = Matthew 13 = the
parables
-
Matthew 13:35 That it might be fulfilled which was
spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables;
I will utter things which have been kept secret from the
foundation of the world.
15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown;
but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh
away the word that was sown in their hearts.
-
The word is sown =
When they have heard =
Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away
16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground;
who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with
gladness;
17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time:
afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's
sake, immediately they are offended.
18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear
the word,
19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches,
and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and
it becometh unfruitful.
20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as
hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some
thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
21 And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a
bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?
-
Candle = the light = God's Word
-
Once God's gives you a truth, share it with
others, don't hid it under a bed
-
God gives us the word to share with His Children
-
Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and
they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things
which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
-
Matthew 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto
him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
-
James 1:5 If any of you
lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to
all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it
shall be given him.
22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested;
neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come
abroad.
-
Manifested = Appear, manifestly declare, make
manifest forth, shew self
-
Nothing = not anything
-
Was any thing kept secret = does a secret thing
take place.
-
It should come abroad = it may come into the
light
23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what
measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that
hear shall more be given.
25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath
not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should
cast seed into the ground;
27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should
spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
-
Man teaches the Word of God, only God can give
you eyes to see the truth
-
You can only teach God's word, it's God that
opened their eyes to see and ears to hear
28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the
blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth
in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or
with what comparison shall we compare it?
31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in
the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than
all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of
the air may lodge under the shadow of it.
33 And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as
they were able to hear it.
-
When man teaches God's Word = It's up to God If
they are able to hear the Word
34 But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they
were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.
35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them,
Let us pass over unto the other side.
-
Did Jesus say we were going half way over?
-
No, Jesus said we are going over to the other
side
-
And the same day = This miracle
is not the same as that recorded in
Matthew 8:23-27
-
Matthew 8:23 And when he was entered into a
ship, his disciples followed him.
24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in
the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with
the waves: but he was asleep.
25 And his disciples came to him, and
awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O
ye of little faith? Then he arose, and
rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a
great calm.
27 But the men marvelled, saying, What
manner of man is this, that even the winds and
the sea obey him!
-
But is the same as that in Luke 8:22
Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he
went into a ship with his disciples: and he said
unto them, Let us go over unto the other
side of the lake. And they launched
forth.
23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there
came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they
were filled with water, and were in
jeopardy.
24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying,
Master, master, we perish. Then
he arose, and rebuked the wind and the
raging of the water: and they ceased, and there
was a calm.
25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith?
And they being afraid wondered, saying one to
another, What manner of man is this! for
he commandeth even the winds and water, and they
obey him.
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even
as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little
ships.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat
into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a
pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest
thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea,
Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great
calm.
-
If Jesus can rebuked the sea and winds, to be
calm, He can help us.
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that
ye have no faith?
-
Faith of a mustard seed = smallest of the seeds
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What
manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
-
The wind and sea obey Jesus
-
If Jesus can rebuke the sea and winds, to be
calm, He can help us.
-
God didn't promise us a rose garden
