Micah 6:1 Hear ye now what the Lord saith; Arise, contend thou before the
mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.
2 Hear ye, O mountains, the Lord's controversy, and ye strong foundations of the
earth: for the Lord hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with
Israel.
-
God loves all His children
3 O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee?
testify against me.
-
God's saying, I'm here for you
-
My people have rejected Me
-
Testify = You have answer against Me
4 For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the
house of servants; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
-
You were in bondage and I heard your cries.
-
I sent Moses for you and brought you out of
Egypt
-
Exodus 12:51 And it came to pass the selfsame
day, that the Lord did bring the children of
Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.
-
House of servants = house of bondage
5 O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam
the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know the
righteousness of the Lord.
-
Righteousness = righteous acts
-
Hosea 6:6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more
than burnt offerings.
-
I want your loving kindness, I want you to study
My word
-
I want you to love Me, If you love Me keep My
commandments
-
Matthew 9:13 But go ye and learn what that
meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice:
for I am not come to call the righteous, but
sinners to repentance.
-
Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for
thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were
created.
-
All things were
created specifically for God's pleasure.
-
He alone is counted worthy to
receive honor, glory and power, because in Him alone resides the
power to create.
6 Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before the high God?
shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?
7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of
rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my
body for the sin of my soul?
-
Transgression = rebellion
8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of
thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
-
Mercy = loving kindness, or grace
-
Walk humbly = This verse embodies the principles
governing God's administration under the Law,
but not under the Gospel.
-
Now, He requires faith in the Substitute Whom He
has provided for the sinner; and His
righteousness must be imputed in grace.
9 The Lord's voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy
name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.
-
City = for the inhabitants
-
The man of wisdom shall see Thy name = have true
stability (or safety) will regard Thy name.
-
Wisdom = The wisdom of God
-
Proverbs 2:7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the
righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk
uprightly.
-
Thy = He (the LORD) will save such as
revere His name
-
Rod = Hebrew. matteh = staff (for support or
chastisement) for the chastisement inflicted, or
supply
-
Ellipsis thus = hear ye the rod, and Him Who
hath appointed = the chastisement
-
It = is feminine; while "rod" is masculine.
-
Therefore we may supply "chastisement "(Hebrew.
tokahath), which is feminine.
10 Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the
scant measure that is abominable?
-
Scant measure = crooked scales = people that
rip-off My people = false set of scales
11 Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of
deceitful weights?
-
Deut 25:13 Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers
weights, a great and a small.
14 Thou shalt not have in thine house divers
measures, a great and a small.
15 But thou shalt have a perfect and just
weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou
have: that thy days may be lengthened in the
land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
16 For all that do such things, and all that do
unrighteously, are an abomination unto the Lord
thy God.
-
God said, don't go out and rip off My people =
false set of balances
-
Them = Supply = her = the wicked city
-
The wicked balances = Hebrew balances of
wickedness
12 For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof
have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
-
They're unbalance = they are never happy or
satisfy = they are always thinking = they need
more money
13 Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in making thee desolate
because of thy sins.
-
Lev 26:16 I also will do this unto you; I will
even appoint over you terror, consumption, and
the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes,
and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your
seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
17 And I will set my face against you, and ye
shall be slain before your enemies: they that
hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee
when none pursueth you.
14 Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the
midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which
thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.
-
He saying you will work and I will take all
you have from you because of your sins
15 Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but
thou shalt not anoint thee with oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine.
16 For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab,
and ye walk in their counsels; that I should make thee a desolation, and the
inhabitants thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my
people.
-
My people walk in their counsels, not in My
Ways
-
The statutes = Hebrew word hukkoth = in a religious
sense
-
Lev 20:8 And ye shall keep my statutes, and do
them: I am the Lord which sanctify you.
-
Omri = as to the worship of Baal
-
1 Kings 16:31 And it came to pass, as if it had
been a light thing for him to walk in the sins
of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to
wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the
Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and
worshipped him.
32 And he reared up an altar for Baal in the
house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.
-
Kept = strictly kept
-
The house of Ahab = 1 Kings 16:30 And Ahab the
son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord
above all that were before him.
-
That I should make = Deut 28:37 And thou shalt
become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword,
among all nations whither the Lord shall lead
thee.
• Exactly 2520 years from the exile
of Benjamin, Iceland became an independent nation.
•
The first tribe to be
conquered by the Assyrians was Manasseh,
in 745 B.C. Exactly 2520 years later America became a nation on July 4, 1776.
(Leviticus. 26: 28-46) God warned Israel that if they persisted in continually
breaking His Laws, not only would curses come upon them.
He would punish them for seven times, (a time being 360 years, seven times would
be 2520 years) and would banish them from the land of Palestine and scatter them
among the heathens (like lost sheep)
