Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
  • The millennium Temple in Ezekiel 48:35 It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The Lord is there.
  • The word ''new'' in Greek is ''kinnos'', which means ''freshness or renew''.
  • It is not a completely new operation, but a renewing of the old.
  • The word rejuvenation would be more fitting.
  • The fact that there will be no more sea can mean two things.
  • We know that if all the people who had ever lived were to return, there would not be adequate living space.
  • However, if the seas disappeared and we had terra firma around the whole globe, there would be.
  • The earth would be watered with a mist that covered the whole earth.
  • It would be watered each night, evenly, in such a way that we would not have rain or storms.
  • We could also interpret this sea to mean that masses of confused people would be ''no more''.
  • Refers to Isaiah 65, New Heavens and earth
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
  • This is post millennium.
  • Note, this is not old Jerusalem as we know it now. But the heavenly Jerusalem. For He brings it with Him.
  • Heaven in Revelation 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
  • Isaiah 54:1  very good reading together with this verse.
  • Isaiah 65 very good reading together with this verse
  • A bride adorned for her husband
  • Ezekiel 48:5 And by the border of Manasseh (USA), from the east side unto the west side, a portion for Ephraim ( Great Britain).
  • Ezekiel 48:35 It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is there.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
  • His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God
  • Tabernacle means ''dwelling place''
  • We see He is dwelling with men.
  • With Them,  for God's promise to dwell among His People in the Land.
  • For the promise to dwell among His People, restored Israel, in the millennial Land
  • Here we have the final and glorious fulfillment of the promise IMMANUEL, God with us.
  • Zech 2:10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.
    11 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be My people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
  • Zech 8:3 Thus saith the Lord; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the Lord of hosts the holy mountain.
    4 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.
    5 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.
    6 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If it be marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvellous in mine eyes? saith the Lord of hosts.
    7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country;
    8 And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.
  • People,  peoples. Greek. laos. Whereas it was people, Israel, it is now peoples, called "the nations"
  • Revelation 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
    25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
    26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
    27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
  • What a great and wonderful time this is to anticipate.
  • We are not sure what kind of bodies we will be in at that time. But, evidently they will be incapable of pain.
  • We will be in that perfect state of the spiritual body
  • 1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
    2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
    3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
 
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
  • Isaiah 12:2 talks about wells of salvation. Our Father loves us and He gives of the water freely.
  • Isaiah 12:1 And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comforted me.
    2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
    3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
    4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
    5 Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
    6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son.
  • The reason the over comer is referred to as a male is that after the millennium there will be no difference in sex.
  • 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
  • Luke 20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
    35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
    36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
  • The word ''abominable'' here means idol worshipper.
  • The word ''sorcerers'' means commerce with evil spirits. They are drug dealers.
  • The word ''liars'' used here goes much deeper than just telling little fibs
  • This is a falseness of teaching, teaching something other than the truth
  • This would be a false prophet.
  • These will all ''have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death''.
  • Those who after being taught for 1000 years still cling to Lucifer, they will be destroyed actually and completely.
9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
  • The "wife" and the "bride" here must not be confused with "the wife" of  Rev 19:7.
  • The wife of Rev 19:7 is Israel, called out from all the nations for blessing in the Land, the earthly consort of "the great King".
  • The "bride, the Lamb's wife" here is still of Israel, but that Israel of the "heavenly calling" all those connected with the "heavenly" country and "the city which hath the foundations", for which "they looked".
  • Wife = Greek word gune, always "wife", or "woman".
  • Matthew 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
  • The wife of Rev 19:7 is not called numphe. Here she is both numphe and gune
  • Revelation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
  • Mark 13:27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.
  • Matthew 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
  • Hebrew 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
    2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
  • Hebrew 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
    14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
    15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
    16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
  • Four winds has to do with the end
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
  • What is this city? We will find out what the exact name of the Holy New Jerusalem is.
  • The name actually describes the city better than all the measurements or credentials that could be given it
  • Ezekiel 48:35 tells us that the name of the city of Jerusalem is ''The Lord is There''
11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
  • ''Clear as crystal'' signifies complete freedom from impurities
  • It is beautiful and sparking because Christ is there
  • And His light reflects from it and put it aglow and gives it an atmosphere of perfection
  • It will be just as the Bible says it was around His throne.
  • It was like a rainbow with colors of a prism
  • It will be a beautiful sight.
12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:

13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.

14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
  • In Act 1:26 the lot falls upon Matthias.
  • He takes the place of Judas to complete the twelve
  • Acts 1:26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles
15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
  • Reed to bring peace
  • Compare this verse to Ezekiel 40
16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
  • Twelve thousand furlongs is 1500 miles.
  • The holy city is presented to us as a perfect cube of 1500 miles
17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.
  • Clear glass has no impurities, just as pure gold has no impurities
19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;

20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
  • Exodus 28:17-21 shows us that these stones are the twelve stones of Israel.
  • Each one represent one of the twelve tribes.
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
  • Isaiah 60:19-22 gives a good rendering of this.
  • The children of the night or darkness, have done away.
  • Isaiah 60:19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.
    20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.
    21 Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.
    22 A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time.
24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
  • The king referred to in this verse, are just that, the kings of the earth.
  • This is not talking about our king
  • Remember, the word ''nations'' means ''ethnos'', which is various ethic groups.
  • There will be kingdoms of them outside the 1500 miles and they will live in the light of it.
  • They will be Kings and priests of their own people. They can come into the millennial temple where Christ is.
  • The nations (the Gentiles) will be priest of their own people. They will come into the millennium temple with the Lord, and  they will be teaching their own people the laws of God.
  • Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
  • Those that come by salvation, that are saved out of the races after the second death
  • They will live under their own perfect kings, and their own realms
  • Yet, they will draw from the same God
  • Good studying Psalms 22
  • Psalms 22:28 For the kingdom is the Lord's: and He is the governor among the nations.
  • Good studying Isaiah 60
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
  • Why? God is our light
  • Go back up to Verse 23
26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.

27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
  • This world of false politics and false religious systems is past history.
  • The ''gates'' may be left open because there is no longer a thief.
  • The nations (ethnos) shall glory and honor it because the ruler is fair, just and worthy
  • Nothing shall enter that defileth, for everything that defileth has been consumed by the cleansing fire.
  • Only those that love and serve God may enter
  • See that you do this, and become a citizen of the city named, ''God Is There''
