The Woes, Come Quickly

2 Esdras 2:7 Let them be scattered abroad among the heathen, let their names be put out of the earth: for they have despised my covenant.

8 Woe be unto thee, Assur, thou that hidest the unrighteous in thee! O thou wicked people, remember what I did unto Sodom and Gomorrha;

9 Whose land lieth in clods of pitch and heaps of ashes: even so also will I do unto them that hear me not, saith the Almighty Lord.

10 Thus saith the Lord unto Esdras, Tell my people that I will give them the kingdom of Jerusalem, which I would have given unto Israel.

11 Their glory also will I take unto me, and give these the everlasting tabernacles, which I had prepared for them.

12 They shall have the tree of life for an ointment of sweet savour; they shall neither labour, nor be weary.

13 Go, and ye shall receive: pray for few days unto you, that they may be shortened: the kingdom is already prepared for you: watch.

Revelation 8:13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!

  • Christ uses symbolic like insects, water, wind, trees, animals, horses, seasons, all of the nature itself, to relate something to you because you can identify with the things you can see. The truth shall make you free.

  • 6th trumpet = The reason for this is Satan has come to abide with man.
  • The pit of the abyss appears to be the abode of demons.
  • Revelation 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.

18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

12 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
  • Their false teaching, that they bring forth on the people, they cause this.
  • They don't teach God's word
  • They said, don't upset the atheist
  • Woman rule over them, is use to show they are weak, they that let the atheist take over, they follow Satan's ways.
13 The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
  • What you do, is going to come back on you
  • You are judged by your works
14 The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

  • You will be judged, for taking from my people, I'm going to do to you the same
  • This is talking about false teaching also, they will be judged, for misleading the people
15 What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the LORD GOD of hosts.
  • Joy and peace of mind, only come from God
  • Them that rip off my people, They have no peace
  • God knows what you do
16 Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
  • They walk like a harlot, they said, I sit as a queen, turning their head up at the poor.
  • Not in heaven, they will be judged by God
  • God against them, that plays the harlot, That said, I sit as a queen
  • Satan's fall was, because of his pride, he though he would take God's place, he will go into the lake of fire. Just like some rulers.

  • He does not put “sweet for bitter, and bitter for sweet”
21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
  • These think = they know better than God
22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
  • After a few drinks, they think they're better and stronger than anyone
23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
  • Why?
  • Because they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
  • For what?
  • They turn everything upside down
25 Therefore is the anger of the Lord kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
  • He's Talking about, the spiritual dead
  • He's saying turn back to me
26 And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:
27 None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken:
28 Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses' hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:
29 Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it.
30 And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.
