2 Corinthians 11:1 Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.
  • Would to God = 1 Corinthians 4:8 Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.
  • Bear = ye do bear
  • Luke 9:41 And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither.
    42 And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.
    43 And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples,
    44 Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.
    45 But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.
  • Folly = Mark 7:22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
    23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
  • Jealous = Compare to = Acts 7:9 And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,
    10 And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
  • Godly = It means a great jealousy
  • Chase = 2 Corinthians 7:11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.
  • Read verses 2 - 4
  • Verse 2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
    3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
    4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
  • Revelation 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
  • If Christ comes back and find you chasing another husband = meaning if your chasing Satan, you did not wait on Christ, you are in bed with Satan.
  • Verse 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
    14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
  • Matthew 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
  • Jerusalem: Temple Mount & Dome of the Rock = The Old City of Jerusalem with the Temple Mount and the Dome of the Rock in the foreground. The Temple Mount is the ancient site of Solomon's Temple . Here also stood Herod's Temple of Jesus' day.
  • Matthew 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
    3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
  • Matthew 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
  • Woe to them that are with child.
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
  • Again read = Revelation 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
  • What is this travail upon a woman with child?
  • New birth Age. If you are worshipping Satan you did not wait for Christ, you are helping Satan bring in Babylon, confusion, his flood of lies.
  • What flood?
  • Satan's flood of lies
  • Revelation 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
    16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
    17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
  • Who's the dragon?
  • Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
  • With child means: you did not wait on The Lord, the marriage supper of the Lamb
  • Isaiah 54:1 Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.
  • Bible study hour = wedding, all are invited," All that wait on Christ"
  • Jeremiah 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:
    The kingdom wedding takes place in three stages.
  • It began in the world that was and it is spoken of in Romans 1, when God set aside those that over came Satan.
  • He judged and justified them and He took them to wife.
  • This doesn't make them better than anyone else it simply means they already stood against Satan.
  • God will intervene in their lives to accomplish His purpose
  • God uses things of natural, where you can understand His word.
  • Bible study hour  = two beast
  • Read verses 13 - 14

  • Transformed: to transfigure or disguise
  • Revelation 6:2 What's the First Seal, Don't be deceived.
  • What's the sixth seal? Satan comes first, saying he is Christ.
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

  • Do not be deceived as Eve, by the serpent
  • Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
  • The serpent wholly seduce her by deceiving her, through his  trickery or sophistry.
  • Beguiled: to seduce wholly, deceive, of uncertain derivation; to cheat
  • Subtilty:  craftiness, trickery or sophistry
  • Luke 20:23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?
  • Mind = 2 Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
  • 2 Corinthians 3:14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
  • Simplicity = 2 Corinthians 1:12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.
  • Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
  • Tree = He, she
    2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
    3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
    4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
    5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
  • This is how Satan going to deceived the world, with a flood of lies.

  • Satan's  flood of lies: by deceiving the world, through his  trickery or sophistry.
  • 1 John 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
    8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
  • Ye might = The meaning is, if the false teacher professed to bring a fresh gospel, might be some excuse for their hearing what he had to say, that it is the same as Paul's message.
5 For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.
  • Suppose = reckon
  • Was .. behind
  • 2 Corinthians 1:7 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
  • Not a whit = in nothing
  • Whit = (Wight) = a person or thing
6 But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.
  • Though = even if
  • Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
  • Thoroughly = in every way
7 Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?
  • Offence = sin
  • That = in order that
  • Exalted = John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
  • As a free gift = Roman 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
  • He is the way.
  • The redemption means to actually blot sins away.
8 I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service.
  • Robbed = Acts 19:37 For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.
  • Wages = Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • The old church, more or less, used this scripture to hold people to the church, teaching hell and damnation, and not fully explaining the gift, the free gift of God.
  • What Paul meant in these preceding chapters is that as mortal men we would sin, but having died with Christ in baptism or even in receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit, our faith holds true when it comes from the heart, and the gift or forgiveness is ours for the asking.
  • Temptations is always with those still in the flesh, but Paul is saying, when you stumble, don't turn away from Christ.
  • Ask Him to strengthen you; hide in His gracious forgiveness.
  • To do you service = For the service of you
9 And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.
  • With = as above
  • Wanted = was in need = As in Verse 5 = For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.
  • Was chargeable = distressed.
  • 2 Corinthians 12:13 For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome to you? forgive me this wrong.
    14 Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
  • That which was lacking to me = my need.
  • 1 Corinthians 16:17 I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied.
    18 For they have refreshed my spirit and yours: therefore acknowledge ye them that are such.
  • Which = when they.
  • Macedonia = Acts 18:5 And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.
  • Supplied = 2 Corinthians 9:12 For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
10 As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.

11 Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.

12 But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
  • Transforming themselves = to transfigure or disguise
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
  • Transformed: to transfigure or disguise
  • Revelation 6:2 What's the First Seal, Don't be deceived.

  • Revelation 20:1 And I saw an angel (Michael) come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
  • Revelation 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
  • Revelation 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
  • Revelation 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison.
  • Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
  • Satan's comes saying he is Christ (Revelation 13)
  • 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
  • His ministers also be transformed as the ministers - Satan's angels
  • Ministers will be judge on how they teach - according to their works
  • If your not teaching the word, "woe unto those that deceive God's people"
  • Ezekiel 13:20 Wherefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.
    21 Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
    22 Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life:
16 I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.
  • Paul is saying, some don't believe me, but I have told you the truth
17 That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.
 
18 Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.

19 For ye suffer fools gladly, seeing ye yourselves are wise.
  • Wise in the ways of the world = Tradition of men
20 For ye suffer, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour you, if a man take of you, if a man exalt himself, if a man smite you on the face.
  • Bring = into bondage = enslave
  • Devour Greek word =  Elsewhere
21 I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit where in so ever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.

22 Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.

23 Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
  • Paul is saying, I face death every day.
  • If you're teaching God's word, people are going to be against you.
  • John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
    19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
  • Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
  • Jesus was teaching the word of God, what did they do to Him?
  • They crucify him
  • As a fool = being beside myself.
  • Compare 2 Peter 2:15 (madness).
  • 2 Peter 2:15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
  • Labours = Same as weariness = 2 Corinthians 11:27  In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
  • Above measure = Only here. Compare 2 Corinthians 3:10 (excel).
  • 2 Corinthians 3:10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
  • Acts 16:23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
  • More frequent. Same as "more abundant", above.
  • For those that eyes to see, this is happen today.
24 Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.

25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;

26 In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;

27 In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
  • Weariness = Same as "labours"
28 Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.

29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?

30 If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.

31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.

32 In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king kept the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desirous to apprehend me:

33 And through a window in a basket was I let down by the wall, and escaped his hand.
