Daniel 1                                                                                            Daniel 1    Daniel 1     Daniel 1

The book of Daniel, is to show how present times and events of today parallel the history of  Daniel's days.

There is a clear correlation between the book of Daniel and the book of Revelation, and it will become evident to you as we go along that the prophecy herein is, in fact, happening in our time. The provides a logical base for the end times in our not too distant future.

I ask you to keep in mind that this book applies to you directly right up to the judgment.

Daniel was mentioned three times in the book of Ezekiel and Christ Himself mentioned Daniel in the gospels: Mark 13, Matthew 24 and Luke 21, when he was addressing the end of this age. He stated the abomination would be setup in the last day generation of this age.

So let no man deceive you; Daniel is history, but most important, it is prophecy concerning your generation, which started May 14,1948.

Before we begin, let's paint a picture of the king of whom we will be speaking. The name Nebuchadnezzar comes from "Nebo" who was a god of letters and learning, and,  Nebuchadnezzar in its entirety means "Nebo", protect the crown, or Nebo, protect against misfortune.

As you will notice throughout the Bible, the names set the stage for events, so here we have Nebuchadnezzar as a protector of captive Israel.

The name Daniel in Hebrew means God is my judge or God is judge. The book of Daniel covers the overall plan of God from the fall of the city, Jerusalem.

In Daniel's day, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim's reign and In our days.

Daniel = "God's judgment." Here are shown the final defeat of Antichrist, and the deliverance out of "the Great Tribulation."

Daniel 1:1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.
  • Daniel means God is my Judge or God is judge
  • Daniel was of the seed-royal of Judah
  • Jeremiah 27:6 And now have I given all these lands unto the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him.
7 And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him.
  • At this time the northern tribes were in captive for about two hundred years
  • The geographic location was the city of Jerusalem.
  • Major prophecy starts with the fall of this city, and when we speaks of  Nebuchadnezzar's Babylon here.
  • The Babylon in the book of Revelation, which Babylon of today.
  • The word Babylon means confusion, and we have much confusion in the world today.
  • The things that happened to Nebuchadnezzar's Babylon will also happen in our last days.
  • It is history and it's is prophecy.
  • The four kings named in Daniel
  • Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 1-4) [the first of Babylon]
  • Belshazzar (Daniel 5) [the last of Babylon]
  • Darius (Daniel 6) "the Median" (5:31)
  • Cyrus (Daniel 6:28, Daniel10:1) "the Persian"
2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
  • Note that Nebuchadnezzar did not defeat  Jehoiakim, but God gave Israel into his hand.
  • God intended for Israel to go into captivity.
  •  Land of Shinar = a plain in Babylonia
3 And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;
  • Daniel and his companions
  • We see in this verse that Daniel and his fellow servants were definitely of the royal seed of Judah, the very king seed, or nobles of Judah.
  • Princes = nobles
  • Ashpenaz = horse face
  • Do you know that Nebuchadnezzar had one of the largest libraries that has ever been found from ancient times? He was all for education, giving you a type.
4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
  • Their attainments
  • We see that Nebuchadnezzar held true to his name inasmuch as he was very concerned with wisdom and knowledge and science.
  • He chose the king's seed for the betterment perhaps of his own people to further the learning of all.
  • It is obvious that he had schools established within the palace itself.
  • Tongues' of the Chaldeans = towns of Babylon
  • They were sharp and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science. When one understands science, there's many that would like to tell you that there is a conflict between God's Word and science but they're lying to you.
  • There is no conflict. This earth is millions of years old and the manuscripts from which this King James comes from and the King James itself declares it.
5 And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.
  • Their provision (Appointment)
  • The three years mentioned here were simply a time space allotted for their purification and probably, learning.
6 Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
  • Daniel and his companions
  • These names in Hebrew
  • Daniel - God is my judge or God is judge
  • Hananiah - Jah is gracious; or, graciously given by Jah
  • Mishael - Who is (or is as) God
  • Azariah - Helped of Yah or Yah has helped
  • We see then the strength of Yah in these names.
7 Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abed-nego.
  • Prince = ruler
  • The name given to Daniel was Belteshazzar, which means O Bel, protect his life
  • Evidently the prince of the eunuchs liked Daniel from the start as he asked his god to protect his life.
  • Shadrach. According to Delitzsch = Sudur-Aku (= command of Aku, the moon-god).
  • The name given to Hananiah; Shadrach, which means moon god.
  • The name given to Mishael; Meshach, who is Aku, or who is the moon god.
  • The name given to Azariah; Abednego which means a servant or worshipper of Nego.
8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
  • Their provision (Resolve)
  • Purposed in his heart = made up his mind
  • At this time, all meat was offered to idols and gods to bless it.
  • The animals were not bled or drained in the ways of  Israel's law required.
  • The Biblical laws can be found in Leviticus 3.
9 Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
  • Tender love = compassion
  • Favor and compassion - would perhaps be a clearer interpretation here.
  • God was controlling even the emotions of these people.
  • This book of Daniel happen exactly according to God's plan even to the emotions, and we realize then how the prophecy herein applies almost in the smallest detail to us in the last days.
10 And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.
  • The eunuch, not being aware of Israel's health laws, was afraid that Daniel and his fellow servants would lose their beautiful, ruddy countenance which they possessed and would become pale and therefore, his own life would be in danger for not having followed the kings command to take care of them.
11 Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
  • Melzar, in Hebrew means butler, or quartermaster of food.
12 Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.
  • Pulse is vegetables, or a vegetarian diet.
  • Ten days mentioned here are of particular important to you.
  • Revelation 2, it says you shall have tribulation ten days.
  • There is direct association here.
  • From chapter 12 we find, and I refer you to Appendix 1, that Daniel's days equals 1.48 of our years.
  • These ten days then equal 14 1/2 of our years.
  • Do you see the parallel?
  • The 14 1/2 years of tribulation which are to follow the fall of the city of Jerusalem in 1967.
  • Pulse = vegetable (to avoid the idol-tainted meat)
13 Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
  • After ten days
14 So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
  • I would say, these were sick, because of the way they prepare food
15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat.
  • When the ten days were finished it was obvious that their countenance was fair and if you travel this great nation today and look into the faces of the children of Israel that are eating the true spiritual meat from God. Then you will see a radiation from them of Christ, the real true Christ, and you see their faces happy because they understand and the truth has made them free, in these, last days.
  • When God's elect finish being delivered up (Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21)
  • Bible study hour - Delivered up
16 Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.
  • Their provision (Resolve)
17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
  • Their attainments
  • Understanding = discernment.
  • Was Daniel great?
  • God gave Daniel knowledge, that many could not understand
  • God gave them knowledge and wisdom.
  • It was God Himself that gave Daniel the understanding of dreams.
  • Even in this day, in this hour, all knowledge comes from God.
  • Only He release the knowledge of His plan to His elect, at this time.
18 Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
  • Daniel had three years to learn their language
19 And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.
  • God had His hand on these, the same as he has His hands on you now, giving men ears to hear and eyes to see whereby you are able to discern His truth in the scriptures.
20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.
  • It was the wisdom of God Himself  that made these people ten times better than all the rest.
  • He gave them this position whereby they could help their own people.
  • This is the same knowledge and wisdom in this hour, so you can help and lead, and teach your own people, the children of Israel, and be a comfort to all people.
21 And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.
  • Continued = continued in office
  • The time
  • King Cyrus = God named King Cyrus before he was born
  • From the year 495 to 426 B.C. So we have an overall time span of approximately 69 years, which covered the entire captivity of Israel in Babylon.
  • We see that God stood by Daniel through the entire period of trouble.
  • He shall stand with us through our entire captivity in the modern day babylon in the last days.

Exactly 2520 years from the exile of Benjamin, Iceland became an independent nation.

The first tribe to be conquered by the Assyrians was Manasseh, in 745 B.C. Exactly 2520 years later America became a nation on July 4, 1776.
