Isaiah 43
Book of Isaiah
Isaiah 43:1 But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that
formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by
thy name; thou art mine.
2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the
rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou
shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3 For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt
for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have
loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather
thee from the west;
6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my
sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory,
I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
8 Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.
9 Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who
among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth
their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is
truth.
10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that
ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no
God formed, neither shall there be after me.
11 I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.
12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange
god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God.
13 Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my
hand: I will work, and who shall let it?
14 Thus saith the Lord, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I
have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans,
whose cry is in the ships.
-
In this verse He tells us that no matter how
many enemies you have, they won't brother you
because He will destroy them.
-
Redeemer = Kinsman, Redeemer
-
Exodus 6:6 Wherefore say unto the
children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I
will bring you out from under the burdens of the
Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their
bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched
out arm, and with great judgments:
-
7 And I will take you to me for a people,
and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know
that I am the LORD your God, which
bringeth you out from under the burdens of the
Egyptians.
8 And I will bring you in unto the land,
concerning the which I did swear to give it to
Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give
it you for an heritage: I am the LORD.
9 And Moses spake so unto the children of
Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for
anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage
-
Their nobles = all of them in flight
-
Whose cry is in the ships = the ships which
resound with loud out cries.
-
Numbers 24:24 And ships shall come from
the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur,
and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish
for ever.
-
Lamentations 2:19 Arise, cry out in the
night: in the beginning of the watches pour out
thine heart like water before the face of the
Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life
of thy young children, that faint for hunger in
the top of every street.
15 I am the Lord, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.
-
God is your goal. It is His prerogative to pick
your debts at anytime and in anyway He wishes.
-
How fortunate can a person get? Your nearest and
closest relative is the One who owns all things!
How long will you suffer with your little
earthly worries? He is our Father and He is our
King. Let's give Him the respect He
deserves.
16 Thus saith the Lord, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty
waters;
-
Maketh a way in the sea reference to Exodus
14:16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out
thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the
children of Israel shall go on dry ground
through the midst of the sea.
-
Exodus 14:21 And Moses stretched out his
hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea
to go back by a strong east wind all that night,
and made the sea dry land, and the waters were
divided.
22 And the children of Israel went into the
midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the
waters were a wall unto them on their right
hand, and on their left.
17 Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they
shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are
quenched as tow.
-
Together: or, at once.
-
Tow = for the wick made of it.
18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
-
But, do you remember that He was able to part
the Red Sea? Or the walls that fell at Jericho?
What about the overthrow of Satan that
necessitated this earth age? Do we need to ask
if He is able? I think not!
19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know
it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
-
A new thing = The future deliverance of Israel
will be with greater marvels than at the Exodus.
-
He makes a way for His threshing instrument to
bring His Word forth. He has made a way for a
small voice, even in the wilderness of this
country, to bring forth His Truth to all who
will hear. What a blessing He has given us.
20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I
give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my
people, my chosen.
-
He feed them. When all seem lost in the
honeycombs of Babylon in the these end times. He
sends forth rivers of the Living Water to quench
the parched throats. He doesn't let His family
down! How small man is when you step back and
realize that God, with all of His power, is your
nearest relative and He loves you so very much.
-
Goal is of election. It is two sided and you can
take it or not. If you hear His Words and see
His Truth count yourself beloved of Him, for
your Kinsman will feed you well so that you may
accomplish what He would have you do.
-
I give waters refers to Exodus 17:6 Behold, I
will stand before thee there upon the rock in
Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there
shall come water out of it, that the people may
drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the
elders of Israel.
21 This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.
-
This People, For Israel (as Birks puts it) "is
the keystone of the whole arch of promise"
22 But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O
Israel.
23 Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither
hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with
an offering, nor wearied thee with incense.
24 Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me
with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins,
thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.
25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and
will not remember thy sins.
-
Transgressions = rebellions
-
For Mine own sake. He does not go out of Himself
for the reason which flows from grace.
-
Will not remember = He remembers our infirmities
(which man forgets. Ps 103:14), but will forget
our sins (which man remembers).
-
Remember. Figure of speech Anthropopatheia.
26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest
be justified.
-
Put me in remembrance: let us plead together,
talk to God and ask for His guideness.
27 Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.
28 Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob
to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.
-
Princes = priests, whose great duty was to
"teach" the people the Law and Word of God
-
Jacob . . . Israel. Including the whole Nation:
the subject of this prophecy concerning God's
"servant".
• Exactly 2520 years from the exile
of Benjamin, Iceland became an independent nation.
•
The first tribe to be
conquered by the Assyrians was Manasseh,
in 745 B.C. Exactly 2520 years later America became a nation on July 4, 1776.
(Leviticus. 26: 28-46) God warned Israel that if they persisted in continually
breaking His Laws, not only would curses come upon them.
He would punish them for seven times, (a time being 360 years, seven times would
be 2520 years) and would banish them from the land of Palestine and scatter them
among the heathens (like lost sheep)
