Malachi 1
Book of Malachi
Malachi is one of the six undated Minor (or short) Prophets, His book show that
the Temple worship, with its sacrifices and etc., had been fully restored; but
the ceremonial formalism and hypocrisy, which culminated in the days of our
Lord's Ministry, are seen actively at work.
No sooner were the restraining influences of Ezra and Nehemiah removed, than the
corruption began; and went on apace.
From the "Restoration" and the First Passover to the birth of Messiah was
exactly 400 years, the last great period of Probation (40 x 10) It was the great
testing-time given to the Nation in the Land.
If we take the date of Malachi as being 400 years before the Anointing Messiah
and the commencement of His Ministry (26 A.D.) then we have, reckoning back from
26 A.D., the year 371 B.C. This gives thirty years from the Restoration to the
condition of the Nation described in this prophecy, and twenty-nine years from
Ezra's last date (1st Nisan, 403 B.C.): a period amply sufficient for the
terrible declension of which Malachi speaks. Milner, in his valuable church
history, remarks that great reformations seldom seem to last in their purity
more than thirty years.
If this be so, then Malachi may be dated as about 374 B.C., thirty years after
the commencement of the temple worship, which marked the beginning of the 400
years till the birth of the Messenger (John the Baptist, and of the Messiah).
Malachi is to be reckoned as being separate and apart from the rest; and not, as
usually presented, linked together with HAGGAI and ZECHARIAH. "By the Hebrews,
Malachi is known as 'the Seal of the Prophets', and as closing the Canon of the
Jewish Scriptures."
Malachi 1:1 The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi.
-
The word of God to Israel, of His Love
-
The burden, divine declaration, a warning
-
Malachi means My Messenger
-
My Messengers relating to the five messenger in
this book
-
1. Malachi himself
-
2. The true Priest (Malachi 2-7)
-
3. John the Baptist
-
4. The Messiah Himself
-
5. Elijah
-
This last prophecy introduces the great
fulfillment of God's prophecy by Moses, the
first prophet to Israel.
-
Deuteronomy 18:15 The
Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet
from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like
unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
16 According to all that thou desiredst of the
Lord thy God in Horeb in the day of the
assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the
voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see
this great fire any more, that I die not.
17 And the Lord said unto me, They have well
spoken that which they have spoken.
18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among
their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my
words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them
all that I shall command him.
19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever
will not hearken unto my words which he shall
speak in my name, I will require it of him.
-
Acts 3:18 But those things, which God before had
shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that
Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that
your sins may be blotted out, when the times of
refreshing shall come from the presence of the
Lord;
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before
was preached unto you:
21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times
of restitution of all things, which God hath
spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets
since the world began.
2 I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved
us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,
-
Israel's answer, Wherein hast thou loved us?
-
Deuteronomy 7:6 For thou art an holy
people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God
hath chosen thee to be a special people unto
himself, above all people that are upon the face
of the earth.
7 The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor
choose you, because ye were
more in number than any people; for ye were the
fewest of all people:
8 But because the Lord loved you, and because he
would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your
fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a
mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house
of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh
king of Egypt.
9 Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is
God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant
and mercy with them that love him and keep his
commandments to a thousand generations;
-
Deuteronomy 10:13 To keep the commandments of
the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee
this day for thy good?
14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens
is the Lord's thy God, the earth also, with all
that therein is.
15 Only the Lord had a delight in thy fathers to
love them, and He chose their seed after them,
even you above all people, as it is this day.
-
Romans 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
-
What kind of God would love one and hate the
other even before their birth?
-
This is truly not difficult to understand.
-
It was not what they were as innocent babes,
about to enter the flesh in this world that is,
that God (YHVH) judged.
-
It's what Esau done in the first earth age, God
knew the soul, He put in Esau.
-
It is the same as the election.
-
Those chosen were not chosen for anything they
do in this world that is now.
-
It is because judgment took place in the world
that was.
-
Each soul earned its place during the spiritual
battle when Satan first fell away in the world
that was, or before Adam was.
-
Romans 11, In the first earth age, there was a
remnant that stood with God against Satan in the
first earth age. In the last days there will be
7,000 out of that remnant that the Father chose
as His elect to stand against Satan.
-
These 7,000 that held the line firm and
remained with God and at that time they earned
the right to be God's elect.
-
7 means spiritual completion, there will be more
than 7000, that will stand up for God again in
this earth age, Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21,
Satan tribulation.
-
We have a fair and loving God.
-
Now it would appear unfair to say I hate a child
that is yet in the womb, but you see it was from
what happened before.
-
This is a spiritual thing.
3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for
the dragons of the wilderness.
-
Esau = the nation Russia, Ezekiel 38
-
Esau didn't care about his birthright, he sold
his birthright
-
This has nothing to do with the people in Russia
that love the Lord. This is addressed to the
nation.
-
God's very elect are from all races (Revelation 7:9)
-
Verse 2 notes, God hated Esau because of what
Esau done in the first earth age, God knew the
soul He put in Esau.
-
Those chosen were not chosen for anything they
done in this world age.
-
It is because judgment took place in the world
that was.
-
Each soul earned its place during the spiritual
battle when Satan first fell away in the world
that was, or before Adam was
-
This is why we are in this earth age, Satan
pride, he wanted to take God's place and some of
God's children followed Satan.
-
Why would God blind some?
-
Romans 11:8 According as it is written,
God hath given them the spirit of slumber,
eyes that they should not see, and ears that
they should not hear; unto this day.
-
God could of destroyed all those who stood with
Satan or He could regain their love and forgive
them and let them be born of woman and
gave them free will, It's up to you.
-
God needs to know, do you Love Him, or do you
want to follow Satan?
-
All are born with the spirit of slumber, If'
you're studying God's word, He will open your
eyes to His Word, His Truth and His Parables.
-
It's up to you.
4 Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build
the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but
I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness,
and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.
-
Edom's = the nation Russia = Russia's symbol
= the bear = Russia's flag = red
-
Edom = OT:123 Hebrew word Edom from OT:122;
red, Edom, the elder twin-brother of Jacob;
hence the region (Idumaea) occupied by him. Edomites, Idumea.
-
Russia has saith, we are Impoverished or beaten
down, but we will return and build the desolate
places
-
It you are a watchmen, you see this is
happening, you are reading tomorrow newspaper.
-
The word of God to Israel, of His Love to you
-
God said, they shall build, but I will throw
down; and they shall call them, The territory of
lawlessness.
5 And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD will be magnified
from the border of Israel.
-
If you look at the nation Israel, they are
surrounded by nations that want to kill them.
-
The LORD will be magnified from the border of
Israel.

6 A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a
father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear?
saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And
ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?
-
God is saying, where is MY Honour? I loved you,
Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not
cast thee away.
-
Can you feel the (love the Lord has for His
children), God is saying My children, has
broken My heart.
-
God is saying, Where is My Love?
-
Isaiah 5:4 What could have been done more to my
vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore,
when I looked that it should bring forth grapes,
brought it forth wild grapes?
-
Luke 11:19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out
devils, by whom do your sons cast them out?
therefore shall they be your judges.
-
Acts 4:19 But Peter and John answered and said
unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of
God to hearken unto you more than unto God,
judge ye.
-
These two appeals are marked off by minor
accents.
-
My name: which is again marked off for special
emphasis.
-
1. The argument is based on natural reverence
-
2. The breach is shown in the case of Israel
-
Isaiah 41:8 But thou, Israel, art my servant,
Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my
friend.
9 Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the
earth, and called thee from the chief men
thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my
servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee
away.
-
Hosea 11:1 When Israel was a child, then I loved
him, and called my son out of Egypt.
-
3.
The conclusion being that the priests were
guilty cause.
7 Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we
polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible.
-
The bread of Life = Christ
-
Ye offer polluted bread = if you follow or serve
Satan
-
Deuteronomy 15:21 And if there be any blemish
therein, as if it be lame, or blind, or have any
ill blemish, thou shalt not sacrifice it unto
the Lord thy God.
8 And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye
offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor;
will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of
hosts.
-
Leviticus 22:22 Blind, or broken, or maimed, or
having a wen, or scurvy, or scabbed, ye shall
not offer these unto the Lord, nor make an
offering by fire of them upon the altar unto the
Lord.
9 And now, I pray you, beseech God that he will be gracious unto us:
this hath been by your means: will he regard your persons? saith the
LORD of hosts.
10 Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nought?
neither do ye kindle fire on mine altar for nought. I have no pleasure
in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at
your hand.
-
Priests offering, God said,
I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of
hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your
hand
11 For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same
my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense
shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be
great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.
-
Gentiles = nations
-
Heathen = nations or Gentiles
-
My Name shall be great = the time is = the
millennium
12 But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD is
polluted; and the fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible.
-
If you start to teach God's Word = the false
pastors will turn on you = they will say we will
be gone = you don't have to study God's Word.
-
Ezekiel 13:19 And will ye pollute me among my
people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of
bread, to slay the souls that should not die,
and to save the souls alive that should not
live, by your lying to
my people that hear
your lies?
-
Ezekiel 13:20 Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD;
Behold, I am against your pillows,
wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make
them fly, and I will tear them from your
arms, and will let the souls go, even the
souls that ye hunt to make them fly.
13 Ye said also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and ye have snuffed at
it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye brought that which was torn, and the
lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this of
your hand? saith the LORD.
-
Snuffed = pulled
-
Snuffed is an archaism for "sniffed" means
companied by sniveling, to dismiss lightly.
-
Should I accept this? Should I dismiss this
lightly?
14 But cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and
voweth, and sacrificeth unto the LORD a corrupt thing: for I am a great
King, saith the LORD of hosts, and my name is dreadful among the
heathen.
-
Cursed be to the deceivers = false teachers
-
Hath: Lamentations 1:12 Is it nothing to you,
all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be
any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done
unto me, wherewith the Lord hath afflicted me in
the day of his fierce anger.
