Zeal to do good. That is what should be in the heart and mind of every Christian. Especially, with our freedoms of religion and speech being threatened. We see Christian organization after organization come under attack.
If we see it happening to other Christian organizations, sooner or later it is going to be our turn.
Christians must stand firm. They must have zeal to do good, that is to say that which is right.
 
Proverbs 24:1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
  • This chapter is on personal character
  • You may have zeal to do good, and you may have zeal to do bad.
  • Why?
  • Because of the evil in the world, it becomes ever more important for Christians to do right.
2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
  • The wicked plan to get ahead through evil, or whatever means is necessary.
  • Their motto is "to do others before they have the opportunity to do you".
3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
  • All true wisdom and knowledge is from God.
  • God's house should be filled with His Word, which is precious.
  • You should care about God's house, because it is your house.
  • If it is ever threatened, you zeal to do good should rise to the occasion.
  • Protect God's house.
4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
 
5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
  • Knowledge in God's Word and His truth is power.
  • The power is of God.
  • There is no stronger power.
  • A wise man = A strong man (if wise) is strong indeed.
  • (Better) is a wise man than a mighty man
6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
  • Vote for wise men or women to do a good job, someone that knows what they're doing
  • Verse 21 My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
  • Don't be around people that want to change God's ways
  • Some people will go alone with anyone, if you pay them
  • God said, don't make war, if you don't know what's you're doing
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
  • The word "scorner" can be translated "scoffer".
  • A scoffer doesn't want to work.
  • Openeth not his mouth in the gate = where the judges sit
  • A fool is not appointed as a judge, don't vote for a fool.
  • A fool will want to change God's laws, to mans ways
  • They prefer to live on what the government will give them, at the expense of hard working tax payers.
  • God won't use lazy people.
8 He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
  • Mischievous = They plan evil, a genius at plots
9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.
  • Scorner = scoffer
  • A scorner will always mock God
  • Foolishness = the foolish
10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
  • If a little adversity stops you, you aren't drawing your strength from God.
  • You don't have the right zeal to get the job done.
  • Draw your strength from Father.
  • If thou faint: A adversity is sent to try our strength: and, if we fail, it is proved to be weakness.
11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;
  • We should pray for those that have a zeal to do good.
  • We should not pray for those who have a zeal to do evil.
  • Don't lead your support to someone who is doing wrong.
  • If God is correcting someone who is doing wickedly, you don't want to get in the way.
  • Be careful, my friends.
  • Deliver= snatch, or rescue
  • Drawn = being taken to execution
12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?
  • Knew it not = we knew not of it
  • Turn to God and talk with Him, drawing your strength from God.
  • God knows your heart and soul
13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:
  • God's knowledge and wisdom is sweet to the palate.
  • Taste for His knowledge along with zeal, to do good brings God's blessings into your life.
  • How are you doing?
14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
  • Once you find wisdom, God's going to be with you
15 Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:
  • God watches over the righteous.
  • Beside that, a righteous man is a wise man.
  • A wise man is strong.
  • Verse 5, A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
  • A wise man is strong enough to protect his home and his family from those that would lie in wait to do harm.
16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
  • A little adversity doesn't stop a just man.
  • A just man knows his strength is in the Father, and he will always get back up when the ways of the world knock him down.
  • Seven represents, The Bible numeric, this is the number of spiritual perfection.
  • Seven Spirits of God = Power, Riches, Wisdom, Strength, Honour, Glory, Blessing (Revelation 4:5)
17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
  • God was trying to correct the evil one, and you got right "smack dab" in His way.
  • Stay out of God's way!
18 Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
  • When you see God correcting the evil ones, rejoice, and Stay out of God's way!
19 Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;
  • Do you like rewards from God?
  • Then have zeal to do good, not to do evil.
  • Draw strength from the Father, and do His work.
  • How do we know what His work is?
  • By studying His Words.
20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
  • Verse 14, God's not going to cut off a righteous person
  • But wicked man, God's going to correct him
  • Rewards = posterity, or future
  • Candle = lamp The idiom is used for having no posterity.
21 My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
  • Call to hear
  • Meddle not = have nothing to do with them that are given to change
  • Change = with them that make a difference (between a wicked king and a wicked common man)
  • Don't be around people that want to change God's ways
  • Some people will follow anyone, if they're paid to do evil
  • God said, don't make war, if you don't know what's you're doing
22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
  • Personal Conduct
  • Their = the king and a common man
  • Calamity = overthrow
  • Ruin = catastrophe
  • Both = the two who are the subjects of this counsel
23 These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
  • Belong to = are the words of the wise or of the wise
24 He that saith unto the wicked, Thou are righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him.
  • The wicked = Unto a wicked king, as well as to an ordinary man
25 But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
  • Rebuke him = rebuke a wicked king
26 Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.
  • Be a good friend, speak the truth
27 Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
  • Get your business going first, then build your house
28 Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.
  • Don't be out and be talking about your neighbor, without cause
  • If your neighbor tells you something in private, don't go out and tell everyone
29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
  • God going correct those that have done you wrong
30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
  • Personal Character
  • Understanding = Heart = put by = for the discernment coming from it
31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
  • If your not paying attention to God's word, you can become as that stone
  • A lazy person won't even take care of his car, home, etc.
  • Don't be like a lazy person
  • He is not talking about the disabled people
  • He taking to the give me people
32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.
  • Saw = gazed
  • Considered it well = set my heart upon it
33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
  • A lazy person will fall, but a wise person will always get up and try again.
  • Verse 16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
  • An armed man = a man with a shield
  • A lazy person wants this spirit armour, but will never get it.
  • Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might .

  • Ephesians 6:10 For the rest, brothers of me, be empowered in (the) Lord, and in the might of the  strength of Him.
  • You use that power which He has bestowed upon you.
  • 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
  • Get your Interlinear Bible - Here's how this reads:
  • Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, for to be able you to Stand against the wiles of the devil.
  • You must put on the whole armour of the truth, before you can stand against the deceit of the false christ in the near future.
  • This is addressing you directly.
