Zechariah 14
The Lord's Day!!!!
Lord will smite the heathen that come not up to
keep the feast of tabernacles.

and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
-

the Mount of Olives, which is before
Jerusalem on the east
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem
to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the
women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and
the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
-
7th vial being poured out
-
Battle = war = not the same word as in verse 3
-
I will gather, referring to the yet future and
final siege of Jerusalem
-
Verse 4 And his feet shall stand in that day
upon the mount of Olives, which
is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount
of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof
toward the east and toward the west, and there
shall be a very great valley; and half of the
mountain shall remove toward the north, and half
of it toward the south.
3 Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against
those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
-
Battle = close conflict, not the same word as in
verse 2
-
Joshua 10:14 And there was no day like that
before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened
unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for
Israel.
-
2 Samuel 17:11 Therefore I counsel that all
Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan
even to Beer-sheba, as the sand that is by the
sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in
thine own person.
-
Verses 4 And his feet shall stand in that day
upon the mount of Olives, which is before
Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives
shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the
east and toward the west, and there shall be a
very great valley; and half of the mountain
shall remove toward the north, and half of it
toward the south.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the

Events and Consequences
-
Christ will returns on Mount Olive
-
Upon the Mount of Olives, this precludes the
possibility of any reference to what is past.
-
No amount of "poetical imagery" can rob this
plain statement of the yet future literal
interpretation of this prophecy.
-
Valley between the northern and southern half of
Olivet.
-
7th vial, God's wrath poured out (Revelation 16)
5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains;
for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall
flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah
king of Judah: and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with
thee.
-
The mountains, My mountains are nations
-
This mountain, My Mountain
-
So called because of the physical change which
He will yet will yet bring about, in the two new mounts formed out of the one.
-
Azal = A place, yet to have this name, at one
extremity of the valley.
-
The Lord my God's coming with all the saints
(Holy ones) with Him.
-
Amos 1:1 The words of Amos, who was among the
herdman of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel
in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the
days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of
Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2 And he said, The Lord will roar from Zion, and
utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the
habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and
the top of Carmel shall wither.
-
This takes us on the second advent.
-
No "flight to Pella" can be accepted as a
fulfillment, in any sense.
6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the
light shall not be clear, nor dark:
-
Clear = light
-
Dark = dense
-
Because of Christ brightness, Revelation 22:5
And there shall be no night there; and they
need no candle, neither light of the sun; for
the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall
reign for ever and ever.
7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to
the Lord, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening
time it shall be light.
-
One day = one continuous day or one day by
itself, unique.
-
Psalm 118:21 I will praise thee: for thou hast
heard me, and art become my salvation.
22 The stone which the builders refused is
become the head stone of the corner.
23 This is the Lord's doing; it is marvellous in
our eyes.
24 This is the day which the Lord hath made; we
will rejoice and be glad in it.
-
Know to the Lord, this forbids our assumptions,
and should restrain our curiosity.
-
Not day, nor night, answering to "not bright,
nor dense" in Verse 6.
8 And it shall be in that day, that living
waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the
former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in
winter shall it be.
-

waters.
-
Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb which is in the
midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall
lead them unto living fountains of
waters: and God shall wipe away

-
Revelation 22:1 And he shewed me a
pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out
of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
-
Ezekiel 47 shows us that this water is
going to flow equally to all twelve gates.
-
Ezekiel 47:9 And it shall
come to pass, that every thing that liveth,
which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall
come, shall live: and there shall be a very
great multitude of fish, because these waters
shall come thither: for they shall be healed;
and every thing shall live whither the river
cometh.
-
This shows the fairness with which
God will feed His people
-

And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever

standing before the Lord of all the earth.
10 All the land shall be turned as a plain from
Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and

yield her increase, and they shall be
safe in their land, and
shall know that I am the Lord, when I
have broken the bands of their yoke, and
delivered them out of the hand of those that
served themselves of them.
28 And they shall no more be a prey to
the heathen, neither shall the
beast of the land devour them; but
they shall dwell safely, and
none shall make them afraid.

heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and

The King = As in Zechariah 14:2 For I will
gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle;
and the city shall be taken, and the houses
rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the
city shall go forth into captivity, and the
residue of the people shall not be cut off from
the city.
-
God will then be the universal Sovereign.
-
The feast of tabernacles = Reference to Lev
23:34 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying,
The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be
the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the

of all the families of
the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even

offering, where they shall bake the meat
offering; that they bear them not out into the
utter court, to sanctify the people.
21 Then he brought me forth into the utter
court, and caused me to pass by the four corners
of the court; and, behold, in every corner of
the court there was a court.
22 In the four corners of the court there were
courts joined of forty cubits long and thirty
broad: these four corners were of one measure.
23 And there was a row of building round about
in them, round about them four, and it was made
with boiling places under the rows round about.
24 Then said he unto me, These are the places of
them that boil, where the ministers of the house
shall boil the sacrifice of the people.

Canaanite =This is the word
which, divided into two, is rendered "the poor
of the flock".
-
Zechariah 11:7 And I will
feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of
the flock. And I took unto me two staves; the
one I called Beauty, and the other I called
Bands; and I fed the flock.
8 Three shepherds also I cut off in one month;
and my soul lothed them, and their soul also
abhorred me.
9 Then said I, I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die; and that that is to be cut
off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat
every one the flesh of another.
10 And I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it
asunder, that I might break my covenant which I
had made with all the people.
11 And it was broken in that day: and so the
poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that
it was the word of the Lord.
-
As one word it means
merchant, or trafficker; but it is also used as

shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have
made it a den of thieves.
