Zechariah 5                                                                                      Zechariah 5    Zechariah 5   Zechariah 5

Zechariah 5:1 Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll.
  • Looked = This is the sixth vision
  • Roll = scroll
2 And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits.

3 Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it.
  • Shall be cut off = hath been let off, or declared innocent; or goeth unpunished
  • This is always the sense of Hebrew word  nakah.
  • Render the passage: for every one that stealeth hath been let off "is written" on the one side, according to it (the curse or scroll); and "every one that sweareth (falsely) hath been let off "is written" on the other side, according to it.
  • Therefore have I brought it (the curse or scroll) forth
  • The curses = Lev 26 and Deut 28
  • Goes forth = to go forth on business, or on an errand
  • Earth = land
4 I will bring it forth, saith the Lord of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.
  • I will bring = I have brought
  • Shall consume it = shall destroy it, or bring it to an end.
5 Then the angel that talked with me went forth, and said unto me, Lift up now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth.
  • Who's talking?
  • The angel said = Lift up now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth.
6 And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth.
  • MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH
  • Revelation 17:4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
  • The great city having a wondrous and attractive idolatrous full of abominations, having the unclean provisions for her idolatrous practices.
  • The great city  is described as having all luxuries, combined with her idolatrous worship.
  • The woman = The "great city is Babylon, or state of confusion - verse 18
  • A golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: We see that the system accumulates great material wealth.
  • Her cup is the filthiness of her deception = idolatry
  • Jeremiah 51:7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD's hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her; therefore the nations are mad.
8 Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so she may be healed.
  • What make her a harlots?
  • Deceptions = confusion = the flood of the end times = lies
  • Purple and scarlet = royal
  • 5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
  • Revelation 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
  • 5th trumpet = Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Revelation 9)
  • Just before the Lord's Day = Luke 17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
    28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man (Satan) is revealed.
31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
    32 Remember Lot's wife.
33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.
  • In the days of Noah = All but Noah family have mixed with the fallen angels
  • The 5th trump is about to sound = are you going to follow God or Satan?
  • Revelation 8:13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhibiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!
  • The word angel here is eagle =  the voice of "an eagle flying in mid-heaven"
  • Eagles are often connected with judgments.
  • Revelation 4:7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
  • Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
  • Deut 28:49 The Lord shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
  • Hosea 8:1 Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the Lord, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.
  • The sound of an eagle cries out, the three woes yet to come, warning the people here on earth, Satan and his fallen angels are coming here on earth.
  • 1st woe, to the people here on earth, warning the people, Satan has fallen to earth, the key to the pit and the opening, the result of the opening, the locusts (fallen angels) coming upon the earth..
  • The first four trumpets told of the deception and judgment upon the earth.
  • The last three trumpets are the woes trumpets to people here on earth, not heaven, as Satan will be on the earth during these soundings.
  • People that do not have the seal of God in their forehead, will not know what's going on.
7 And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah.
  • You can't teach falsely and mislead God's children = judgment starts with the pastors
  • Ezekiel 13:20 Wherefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.
21 Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
  • God said = 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
8 And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.
  • It =  the talent, which had been "lifted up" = "for the prophet to see, and then cast back "into" the ephah.
  • Weight = stone
  • This was "upon" the ephah, and is to be distinguished from the "talent", which was within.
9 Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven.
  • Two women = Perhaps denoting two nations
  • Like the wings of a stork = Evidently a symbol of velocity rather than of character.
  • Stork = An unclean bird, fond of its young, and a bird of passage.
10 Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah?

11 And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base.
  •  Shinar = MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS
  • It = for her = Hebrew word = Feminine = Singular.
  • The land of Shinar = Babylonia.
  • Reference to Gensis 10:10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,
12 And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.
  • Outside the Pentateuch = Joshua 7:21 When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.
22 So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.
  • Daniel 1:2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
  • It shall be established = it (the house, Hebrew, masculine singular) shall be ready (or prepared) = When it is prepared.
  • Set there = fixed, or settled = "they ( the two women) shall settle her there".
  • Base = fixed resting-place.
  • The interpretation must refer to what is = yet future.
  • It cannot refer to the going into captivity; for the People had just returned, and Zechariah had been raised up for their comfort and encouragement.
  • When the time comes, it will be marked by commerce (ephah), false religion (the woman), speedy accomplishment (the wings of a stork), and a spirit in their wings.
  • This will be preparatory to the final judgment of Rev 18
  • Revelation 18:1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

Exactly 2520 years from the exile of Benjamin, Iceland became an independent nation.

The first tribe to be conquered by the Assyrians was Manasseh, in 745 B.C. Exactly 2520 years later America became a nation on July 4, 1776.

(Leviticus. 26: 28-46) God warned Israel that if they persisted in continually breaking His Laws, not only would curses come upon them.

He would punish them for seven times, (a time being 360 years, seven times would be 2520 years) and would banish them from the land of Palestine and scatter them among the heathens (like lost sheep)
