2 Corinthians 5
2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly
house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of
God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
-
Know = The Words for "Know", "Knowledge", etc.
to know (intuitively) without effort, to
understand.
-
Earthly = John 3:12 If I have told you earthly
things, and ye believe not, how shall ye
believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven,
but he that came down from heaven,
even the Son of man which is in heaven.
-
Where did you come from?
-
You were in heaven, before you were born of
woman.
-
This tabernacle = the tent = earthly house is a
tent
-
2 Corinthians 5:4 For we that are in this
tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for
that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon,
that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame
thing is God, who also hath given unto us the
earnest of the Spirit.
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing
that, whilst we are at home in the body,
we are absent from the Lord:
-
1 Corinthians 4:11 Even unto this present hour
we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and
are buffeted, and have no certain
dwelling place;
12 And labour, working with our own hands: being
reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer
it:
13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are
made as the filth of the world, and are
the off scouring of all things unto this day.
-
Building = 1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are
labourers together with God: ye are God's
husbandry, ye are God's
building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given
unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid
the foundation, and another buildeth thereon.
But let every man take heed how he buildeth
thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that
is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation
gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay,
stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for
the day shall declare it, because it shall be
revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every
man's work of what sort it is.
-
Fire = Holy Spirit can comfort you = or God can
bring wrath to correct the evil things of this
world. (Acts 2) (2 Peter 3)
-
Temple = Mark 14:58 We heard him say, I will
destroy this temple that is made with hands, and
within three days I will build another made
without hands.
59 But neither so did their witness agree
together.
60 And the high priest stood up in the midst,
and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing?
what is it which these witness against thee?
-
Eternal = "Everlasting", "Eternal", "For
Ever", etc.. "eternity" in Isa 57:15; "evermore"
in Ps 132:12; "of old" in Job 20:4; and
"perpetually" in Amos 1:11.
-
Isaiah 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty
One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name
is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy
place, with him also that is of a contrite and
humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the
humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite
ones.
-
Psalms 132:12 If thy children will keep my
covenant and my testimony that I shall
teach them, their children shall also
sit upon thy throne for evermore.
-
Job 20:4 Knowest thou not this of old,
since man was placed upon earth,
5 That the triumphing of the wicked is
short, and the joy of the hypocrite but
for a moment?
6 Though his excellency mount up to the heavens,
and his head reach unto the clouds;
-
Amos 1:11 Thus saith the Lord; For three
transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not
turn away the punishment thereof; because
he did pursue his brother with the
sword, and did cast off all pity, and
his anger did tear perpetually,
and he kept his wrath for ever:
-
Heaven = Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore
pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in heaven.
2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed
upon with our house which is from heaven:
-
Groan = Romans 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves
also, which have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we
ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to
wit, the redemption of our body.
-
The first fruits, or the elect.
-
What Paul is saying here is, that even the elect
as we are placed in this flesh body to
accomplish the plan of God.
-
And bring about His purpose, even we look
forward to this day when we will be removed from
this dispensation.
-
And released from the political system which is
the (first beast) mentioned in Revelation 13.
-
Clothed upon = Verse 4 For we that are in
this tabernacle do groan, being burdened:
not for that we would be unclothed,
but clothed upon, that
mortality might be swallowed up of life.
3 If so be that
being clothed we shall not be found naked.
-
Being clothed = 1 Corinthians 15:53 For this
corruptible must put on incorruption, and this
mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on
incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on
immortality, then shall be brought to pass the
saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in
victory.
-
Job 10:11 Thou hast clothed me
with skin and flesh, and hast fenced me with
bones and sinews.
12 Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy
visitation hath preserved my spirit.
13 And these things hast thou hid in thine
heart: I know that this is with thee.
14 If I sin, then thou markest me, and thou wilt
not acquit me from mine iniquity.
15 If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be
righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am
full of confusion; therefore see thou mine
affliction;
4 For we that
are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we
would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be
swallowed up of life.
-
Would = desire to
-
Unclothed = took off
-
Mark 15:20 And when they had mocked him, they
took off the purple from him, and put his own
clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.
-
Mortality = The mortal (thing) = you're born
with a mortal soul (Bible study Body and Soul)
-
Romans 6:1 What shall we
say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace
may abound?
-
Roman 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign
through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
-
Shall we continue this then, so more and more
goodness may come from God?
-
Remember, earlier they had slanderously accused
him teaching of this.
-
Swallowed up = 1 Corinthians 15:54 So when this
corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and
this mortal shall have put on
immortality, then shall be brought to
pass the saying that is written, Death
is swallowed up in victory.
-
Life the Life = The Synonymous Words for "Life"
life in all its manifestations; from the life of
God down to the lowest vegetable. It is life in
activity, and thus especially is the opposite of
death. It involves resurrection life and eternal
life; and hence, as such, is the "gift of God"
5 Now he that hath wrought us for
the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the
earnest of the Spirit.
-
Wrought = 2 Corinthians 4:17 For our light
affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh
for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight
of glory;
18 While we look not at the things which are
seen, but at the things which are not seen: for
the things which are seen are temporal; but the
things which are not seen are eternal.
-
Earnest = 2 Corintians 1:22 Who hath also sealed
us, and given the earnest of the Spirit
in our hearts.
23 Moreover I call God for a record upon my
soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto
Corinth.
6 Therefore we are always
confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we
are absent from the Lord:
-
Always = for ever and ever
-
Daniel 2:20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be
the name of God for ever and ever:
for wisdom and might are his:
-
At home = present
-
Absent = which means off, or away from
-
2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to
be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
-
To be absent from this flesh body, is to be
present with the Lord
-
Willing = well pleased
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent,
we
may be accepted of him.
7 For we walk by faith, not by
sight:
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to
be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
-
To be absent from this flesh body, is to be
present with the Lord
-
Present = as "at home"
-
Verse 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst
we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
-
Willing = well pleased
-
Roman 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God,
that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable
unto God, which is your reasonable service.
-
Practice what you preach, or act in accordance
with your belief.
-
1 Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world
by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of
preaching to save them that believe.
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we
may be accepted of him.
-
Whether present or absent, we may be accepted
of him
-
Labour = are ambitious = also
-
Accepted = well pleasing
-
Roman 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God,
that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable
unto God, which is your reasonable service.

with your belief.
10 For we must all appear before
the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the
things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether
it be good or bad.
-
Before = in the present of
-
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see
your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
-
Judgment seat = judgment seat of Christ
-

set at nought
thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
-
Every = each
-
In = by means
-
Verse 1 For we know that if our earthly house of this
tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not
made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
-
According to = With the Accusative
-
Acts 6:1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was
multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the
Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily
ministration.
-
Done = practiced
-
Bad = John 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light,
neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may
be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
-
Appear = be manifested
-
The Words for "Appear", "Appearing", to cause to be manifested or
shown plainly and clearly; used of causing that to be seen (or
known) which would not otherwise have been cognizable by the unaided
eye (or mind).
-
Matthew 27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and
went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
-

that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father,
and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
-
Hebrews 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made
with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven
itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
-
All appear before the judgment seat of Christ
-
How are you judged?
-
According to that he hath done, whether it be
good or bad
-
The only thing you can take with you, Is your works
-
The false pastors of today teach, that the rich can not enter
heaven, this is a lie.
-
God said, it wrong to think of money of this world.
-
What did God said, All appear before Him and He does the judging, by
what he has done, meaning your WORKS.
-
If you work and earn your money the honest way, there is nothing
wrong with having money.
-
Many people are rich, they have compassion, they
help the poor, support their community and feed the poor.
-
It's the evil people, that needs to know that, the lake of
fire is real.
-
Think of your riches of being blessed of God not money
-
Revelation 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the
fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou
mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do
not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye salve, that thou mayest
see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore,
and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice,
and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and
he with me.
21 To him that over cometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne,
even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his
throne.
-
Notice, He at the door, but you have to be the one that ask to come
in.
-
If you are thinking of money only, this is wrong = love of money
-
1 Tim 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into
temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful
lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil:
which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and
pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after
righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
-
1 Tim 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world,
that they be not high minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but
in the living God, who giveth us richly all things
to enjoy;
18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works,
ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the
time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
11 Knowing therefore the terror of the
Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I
trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
-
Terror = NT:5401 from a primary phebomai (to be
put in fear); alarm or fright: be afraid,
exceedingly, fear, terror.
-
Acts 9:31 Then had the churches rest throughout
all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were
edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord,
and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, were
multiplied.

rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and
understanding, the spirit of counsel and might,
the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the
Lord;
-
Fear = Is to love Him
-
Trust = hope
-
Also = to follow "manifest"
12 For we commend not ourselves again
unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye
may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and
not in heart.
-
To glory = of boasting
-
Roman 4:2 For if Abraham were justified by
works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before
God.
-
Abraham's good works were glorious, but not
necessarily in God's viewpoint.
-
We have try to do what's right, we've lied to
you
-
On our behalf = on behalf of us
-
To answer = towards, or against
-
Glory = boast
-
Roman 2:17 Behold, thou art
called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy
boast of God,
-
Or, call yourself a Judean and even boast of
resting in the law.
13 For whether we be beside ourselves, it
is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.
-
We be sober = be of sound mind
-
Mark 5:15 And they come to Jesus, and see him
that was possessed with the devil,
and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in
his right mind: and they were afraid.
-
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among
you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think;
but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to
every man the measure of faith.
-
Take a sane and honest view of yourself
regarding the gifts God has given you.
-
Beside ourselves = amazed
-
Acts 2:7 And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold,
are not all these which speak Galileans?
-
Whether = If putting the condition simply. The
Various Conditions Conveyed by Its Use. Followed
by the Indicative Mood, the hypothesis is
assumed as an actual fact, the condition being
unfulfilled, but no doubt being thrown upon the
supposition.
-
1 Corinthians 15:16 For if the dead rise not,
then is not Christ raised:
17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is
vain; ye are yet in your sins.
18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in
Christ are perished.
19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ,
we are of all men most miserable.
20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and
become the first fruits of them that slept.
14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus
judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
-
He died for us, Once you have ask forgiven, it's
wiped clear
-
It's man that doesn't forgive your sins
-
Because = judging this
-
The love of Christ constraineth us = God's love
gather us together = through the Holy Spirit
15
And that he died for all, that they which live should not
henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for
them, and rose again.
-
Christ has the power to forgive your sins
-
Don't let man tell you, he or his church has to
forgive you
16 Wherefore henceforth know we no
man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the
flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
-
After someone has come into the Lord and ask for
forgiveness, he is a new creature
-
A new creature = a new creation
-
Matthew 9:17 Neither do men put new wine into
old bottles: else the bottles break, and the
wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but
they put new wine into new bottles, and both are
preserved.
17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old
things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
-
After someone has come into the Lord and ask for
forgiveness, he is a new creature
-
Don't forgive his verse, once you ask God for
forgiven, you come to be new creature
-
All sins are forgiven
-
A new creature = a new creation
-

old bottles: else the bottles break, and the
wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but
they put new wine into new bottles, and both are
preserved.
-
Old = ancient
-
All things = they
-
1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but one
God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we
in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are
all things, and we by him.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to
himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of
reconciliation;
-
All things = 1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there
is but one God, the Father, of whom are all
things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus
Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
-
Christ can forgive you your sins, not man
-
Don't let a man say, he needs to forgive you
19 To wit, that God was in Christ,
reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their
trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of
reconciliation.
-
Isaiah 43:25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out
thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will
not remember thy sins.
26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together:
declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.
-
1 John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved
God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to
be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to
love one another.
-
2 Corinthians 5:18 And all things are of God,
who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus
Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of
reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling
the world unto himself, not imputing their
trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us
the word of reconciliation.
-
Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with
child, and shall bring forth a son, and they
shall call his name Emmanuel, which being
interpreted is, God with us.
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as
the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took
unto him his wife:
-
Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation
through faith in his blood, to declare his
righteousness for the remission of sins that are
past, through the forbearance of God;
-
He didn't said, it's okay to let a murderers
free or someone that has rape a woman
-
We are to obey the law.
-
Romans 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his
neighbour: therefore love is the
fulfilling of the law.
-
1 Tim 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is
not made for a righteous man, but for
the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and
for sinners, for unholy and profane, for
murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers,
for manslayers,
20 Now then we are ambassadors for
Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in
Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
21 For he hath
made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be
made the righteousness of God in him.
-
Righteous = Is to do what's right
