Hebrews 13
Hebrews 13:1 Let brotherly love continue.
2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for there by some have entertained
angels unawares.
3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer
adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.
-
The bound ones = fallen angels from Noah flood
-
Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but
left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting
chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
-
These will be destroyed at the 7th vial which is God's
wrath
-
This was the reason for Noah Flood happen
7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner,
giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange
flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of
eternal fire.
8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh,
despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and
adulterers God will judge.
5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things
as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
-
Conversation = bent, manner (of life)
-
Without = literally without love of money.
-
Such things = the things that are present.
-
He = Himself.
-
Never = by no means.
-
Leave = let
-
Nor = Literally nor by no means = The strongest
negative possible.
-
Forsake = Acts 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave
my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine
Holy One to see corruption.
28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life;
thou shalt make me full of joy with thy
countenance.
6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man
shall do unto me.
7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word
of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing
that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not
profited them that have been occupied therein.
10 We have an altar, where of they have no right to eat which serve the
tabernacle.
11 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by
the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood,
suffered without the gate.
13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
14 For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.
-
One to come = the coming one Christ
15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually,
that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
-
Praise = Acts 2:47 Praising God, and having
favour with all the people. And the Lord added
to the church daily such as should be saved.
The fruit of our lips = Hosea 14:2 Take with you
words, and turn to the Lord: say unto him, Take
away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so
will we render the calves of our lips.
Isaiah 57:19 I create the fruit of the
lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and
to him that is near, saith the Lord; and I will
heal him.
20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea,
when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire
and dirt.
21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the
wicked.
-
Continually = always
-
Hebrews 9:6 Now when these things were thus
ordained, the priests went always into the first
tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.
7 But into the second went the high priest alone
once every year, not without blood, which he
offered for himself, and for the errors of the
people
-
Giving thanks = confessing
-
Hebrews 11:13 These all died in faith, not
having received the promises, but having seen
them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and
embraced them, and confessed that they were
strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is
well pleased.
17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch
for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy,
and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
18 Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to
live honestly.
19 But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the
sooner.
20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that
great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which
is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever
and ever. Amen.
-
To do His will = To please God not man
22 And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have
written a letter unto you in few words.
23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come
shortly, I will see you.
24 Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of
Italy salute you.
25 Grace be with you all. Amen.
