Isaiah 29
Book of Isaiah
Isaiah 29:1 Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt! add ye
year to year; let them kill sacrifices.
-
Jerusalem and Lebanon
-
Woe to Jerusalem
-
The second of the six woes, indicated in the
structure
-
Ariel = either a lion of God or the altar of God
-
Ezekiel 43:15-16; and the Moabite Stone, line
-
Jerusalem is called Har-el on Old Egyptian
monuments
-
The city = Jerusalem = City is in the construct
state: city of (the spot) where David camped
-
Let them kill or let the feast go round
2 Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow:
and it shall be unto me as Ariel.
-
As Ariel = as a veritable hearth of God
3 And I will camp against thee round about, and will lay siege against
thee with a mount, and I will raise forts against thee.
4 And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and
thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of
one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall
whisper out of the dust.
-
Ground = earth
-
A familiar spirit = an familiar spirit
-
Lev 19:31 Regard not them that have familiar
spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be
defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.
-
Whisper = peep, chirp, or mutter
5 Moreover the multitude of thy strangers shall be like small dust, and
the multitude of the terrible ones shall be as chaff that passeth away:
yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly.
-
Strangers: adversaries
-
Terrible ones = tyrants
6 Thou shalt be visited of the Lord of hosts with thunder, and with
earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of
devouring fire.
-
Visited: the judgments (in verse 6) refer to the
deliverance from Jerusalem's enemies
7 And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even
all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her,
shall be as a dream of a night vision.
-
Ariel: here it is plainly Jerusalem
8 It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he
eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man
dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is
faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the
nations be, that fight against mount Zion.
9 Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken,
but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.
-
Stop and look what's your doing
-
They are drunk on the traditions of men, not
strong drink.
-
The real shame is that men's traditions are
taught instead of the Word of God in many
churches.
10 For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and
hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he
covered.
-
Vision = means "Revelation"
-
Does that sound familiar?
-
Has any one tried to tell you that you don't
need to understand the book of Revelation, it is
sealed?
-
Beware of any one that tells you that you don't
need to understand any part of God's Word.
-
Mark that man or woman.
-
He, or she is turning things upside down.
-
Seers = another word for prophet = OT:2374 =
agreement, prophet
-
Roman11:8 According as it is written, God hath given them the
spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that
they should not hear; unto this day.
-
God put them in this slumber or
stupor.
-
There is no such word as ''slumber'' in Greek
language, a stupor, or ''eyes that they should
not see, and ears that they should not hear''.
-
The purpose of this stupor is that the Gentiles
would have an opportunity to accept Christ and
could come into their own kingdom, as is
recorded in the 21st chapter of Revelation.
11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that
is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this,
I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:
-
Of all = of the whole, or altogether
-
Book = scroll, or document in writing
-
Vision = revelation
-
You're suppose to learn the word of God
-
False teachers said, you don't have to
understand the book of Revelation
-
Why would God keep the book of Revelation, if He
didn't want you to understand what's in His plan
12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read
this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.
-
People are literally starving for God's Word.
-
God said, feed My sheep = teach My Word
13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with
their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their
heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of
men:
-
They flatter God with their words, but their
hearts and minds are far from Him.
-
The way they are to reverence God is falsely
taught by the traditions of men.
-
They have gone off from Me
-
Matthew 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias
(Isaiah) prophesy of you, saying,
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their
mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but
their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for
doctrines the commandments of men.
-
Mark 7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well
hath Esaias (Isaiah) prophesied of you
hypocrites, as it is written, This people
honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is
far from me.
14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this
people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their
wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall
be hid.
-
God sees and knows what they are doing.
-
Those who turn things upside down will be held
accountable.
-
These are going to believe a lie
-
Why?
-
These have listen to man
-
Proverbs 1:2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of
understanding;
-
Poor = oppressed
-
Proverbs 6:11 So shall thy poverty come as one
that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
15 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the Lord, and
their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth
us?
-
Their works are in darkness
-
They say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
-
These are the appointments ones in office
16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the
potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me
not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no
understanding?
-
How would you like to be an evolutionist
standing before God on the white throne saying,
"God didn't make me"?
-
He is the potter, and we are the clay.
-
These are the appointments ones in office
-
They turn everything upside down
-
They use Bible verses to turn everything wrong -
to right = False teaching
-
God never said, He wanted us all to sin and be
happy
-
Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an
abomination unto him:
-
Six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an
abomination unto him
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
A proud look,
A lying tongue
Hands that shed innocent blood
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in
running to mischief,
Heart that deviseth wicked imaginations
Feet that be swift in running to mischief
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among
brethren.
A false witness that speaketh lies
He that soweth discord among brethren
Deuteronomy 19:16 If
a false witness rise up against any man to
testify against him that which is wrong;
17 Then both the men, between whom the
controversy is, shall stand before the Lord,
before the priests and the judges, which shall
be in those days;
18 And the judges shall make diligent
inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a
false witness, and hath testified falsely
against his brother;
19 Then shall ye do unto
him, as he had thought to have done unto
his brother: so shalt thou put the evil
away from among you.
If false witness stand up
and lies he shall be put to death, same as
murderers

20 And those which remain
shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth
commit no more any such evil among you.
21 And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall
go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand
for hand, foot for foot.
20 My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy
mother:
21 Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.
22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall
keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of
instruction are the way of life:
24 To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of
a strange woman.
25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee
with her eyelids.
17 Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a
fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?
-
Those who turn things upside down wouldn't know
the difference between a fruitful field and a
forest.
18 And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the
eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.
-
The truth will be taught on the Lord's day, that
is to say the millennium. (Revelation 20)
(Ezekiel 44)
-
The spiritually deaf and blind will hear and see
the truth.
-
Paul and Silas were accused of turning things
upside down, when in fact they were turning
things right side up.
19 The meek also shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor
among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
20 For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is
consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:
-
Terrible one = the tyrant = Satan
21 That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that
reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.
-
Make a man an offender for a word = who bring a
man into condemnation by a word by bring a man
into condemnation by a word by false witness
-
Reproveth = decideth in judgment
-
Just = righteous
-
A thing of naught = confusion
-
A man that brings in a false report

house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face
now wax pale.

and shall fear the God of Israel.
