Isaiah 63
Book of Isaiah
Isaiah 63:1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with
dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel,
travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in
righteousness, mighty to save.
-
Messiah in the execution of
His vengeance in judgment.
-
Edom = Russia
-
Traveling = bending
forward, as in marching.
-
Strength . . . mighty = strength (for
endurance).
2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him
that treadeth in the winefat?
-
What, his victory over his enemies
-
Red = Edom
-
Wine fat = winepress
-
Isaiah 5:2 And he fenced it, and gathered
out the stones thereof, and planted it with the
choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of
it, and also made a winepress therein: and he
looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it
brought forth wild grapes.
3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none
with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my
fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will
stain all my raiment.
-
Winepress = trough
-
The people = peoples

And the winepress
was trodden without the city, and blood came out
of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles,
by the space of a thousand and six hundred
furlongs.
-
Revelation 19:11 And I saw
heaven opened, and behold a white horse;
and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and
True, and in righteousness he doth judge
and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his
head were many crowns; and he had a name
written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in
blood: and his name is called The Word
of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed
him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen,
white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp
sword, that with it he should smite the
nations: and He shall rule them with a
rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of
the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a
name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and
he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the
fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and
gather yourselves together unto the supper of
the great God;
18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the
flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men,
and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on
them, and the flesh of all men, both free and
bond, both small and great.
19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the
earth, and their armies, gathered
together to make war against him that sat on the
horse, and against his army.
20 And the beast was taken, and with him
the false prophet that wrought miracles
before him, with which he deceived them that had
received the mark of the beast, and them that
worshipped his image. These
both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning
with brimstone.
21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of
him that sat upon the horse, which sword
proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls
were filled with their flesh.
4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed
is come.
-
Day .. year = Compare to
Isaiah 61:2

them make haste.

children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I
will bring you out from under the burdens of the
Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their
bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched
out arm, and with great judgments:
5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there
was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me;
and my fury, it upheld me.
-
Mine own arm = Isaiah 59:16 And he saw that
there was no man, and wondered that there was no
intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation
unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained

righteousness
-
Isaiah 59:18 According to their deeds,

my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.
-
I will tread down the people in Mine anger
-
What His victory over His enemies

Strength = life-blood, as in Isaiah 63:3 I have
trodden the winepress alone; and of the people
there was none with me: for I will tread
them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury;
and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my
garments, and I will stain all my raiment.
7 I will mention the loving kindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of
the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us, and the
great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on
them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his
loving kindnesses.
-
Isaiah 5:7 For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts
is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his
pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but

years suffered he their manners in the
wilderness.

to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in
order for me, since I appointed the ancient
people? and the things that are coming, and
shall come, let them shew unto them.
13 That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that
they should not stumble?
14 As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the Lord caused
him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious
name.
15 Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness
and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of
thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?
16 Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and
Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O Lord, art our father, our redeemer;
thy name is from everlasting.
17 O Lord, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our
heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine
inheritance.
18 The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our
adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.
19 We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called
by thy name.
