Isaiah 66
Book of Isaiah
Isaiah 66:1 Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth
is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is
the place of my rest?
-
Acts 7:49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my
foot stool: what house will ye build me? saith
the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
50 Hath not my hand made all these things?
-
2 Chronicles 6:18 But will God in very deed
dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and
the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how
much less this house which I have built!
2 For all those things hath mine hand made, and those things have been,
saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor
and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.
-
Trembleth at = careth anxiously for My Word
3 He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a
lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if
he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an
idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in
their abominations.
-
They do things their own ways = not God's
Ways
-
Oblation = gift, or meal offering
-
Burneth incense = maketh a memorial of
frankincense
-
Leviticus 2:2 And he shall bring it to Aaron's
sons the priests: and he shall take there out
his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil
thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; and
the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon
the altar, to be an offering made by fire, of a
sweet savour unto the Lord:
3 And the remnant of the meat offering shall be
Aaron's and his sons': it is a thing most holy
of the offerings of the Lord made by fire.
4 I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon
them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not
hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I
delighted not.
-
I also will choose their delusions = I'm going
to sent them strong
delusion
-
Why? Because when I called, none did answer;
when I spake, they did not hear
-
If you are doing things man's ways, your going
to be deceived
-
Chose that in which I delighted not = Satan =
they followed Satan's = The mark in your hands =
Following Satan's ways = your works
-
2 Thessalonians 2:9 Even him (Satan), whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and
signs and lying wonders.
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;
because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
-
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that
they
should believe a lie:
-
2 Corinthians 11:13 For such are false apostles,
deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of
Christ.
-
Transforming themselves =
to
transfigure or disguise
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is
transformed into an angel of light.
5 Hear the word of the Lord, ye that tremble at his word; your brethren
that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the Lord
be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be
ashamed.
-
It's written if you teach the truth, people are
going to mock you
-
Always please God not man
6 A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of
the Lord that rendereth recompence to his enemies.
-
Zechariah 12:3 And in that day will I make
Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all
that burden themselves with it shall be cut in
pieces, though all the people of the earth be
gathered together against it.
4 In that day, saith the Lord, I will smite
every horse with astonishment, and his rider
with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the
house of Judah, and will smite every horse of
the people with blindness.
5 And the governors of Judah shall say in their
heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my
strength in the Lord of hosts their God.
7 Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was
delivered of a man child.
- Revelation 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with
the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve
stars:
-
This verse, as we all know, this
woman is speaking of mother Israel.
-
Twelve stars - The zodiac
representing the tribes of Israel.
2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and
pained to be delivered.-
The birth of a new age, travailing in birth
= Literally tormented
-
If
Christ comes back and find you chasing another husband meaning Satan, you
did not wait on Christ, you are in bed with Satan.
-
If you are worshipping Satan, you did not wait for Christ, you are helping Satan bring in
Babylon, confusion, his flood of lies.
-
Revelation 19:9
And he saith unto me, Write,
Blessed are
they which are
called unto
the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me,
These are the true sayings of God.
-
With child means = you did not
wait on The Lord, to the marriage supper of the Lamb
-
2 Corinthians
11:1 Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and
indeed bear with me.
2 For I am
jealous over you with
godly
jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that
I may present you as
a chaste
virgin to Christ.
3 But I fear, lest by any means,
as the
serpent beguiled Eve through
his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted
from the simplicity that is in Christ.
-
And being
with child she crieth out, being in travail, and being
in pain to bring forth.
-
When
could this ever be spoken of the Church?
-
What
is the Church's travail?
-
And what
is the man-child which the Church brings forth?
-
On the
other hand, this "sign" exactly expresses the position
and condition of the true Israel all through the history
of the nation.
-
The
promise of Genesis 3:15, as to the coming "seed" of the
woman to crush the head of the great Dragon (Satan), was
fundamental to the ground of Israel's faith.
-
This
chapter, therefore, takes us back to the beginning of
evil wrought by Satan, and carries us right forward to
the great crises of human history.
-
It shows
how "the mystery of God" and "the mystery of Iniquity"
will be finished; and take some 6,000 years to work out.
8 Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the
earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at
once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
9 Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the
Lord: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God.
10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love
her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:
11 That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her
consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance
of her glory.
12 For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a
river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall
ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her
knees.
13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye
shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
-
God is saying, I will confront you as a mother
comforteth her child
14 And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall
flourish like an herb: and the hand of the Lord shall be known toward
his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies.
15 For, behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with his chariots like
a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames
of fire.
16 For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and
the slain of the Lord shall be many.
17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens
behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination,
and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the Lord.
18 For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will
gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.
-
God know their works and their thoughts
-
I will gather = Compare to Joel 3:2 I will also gather all nations, and will
bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there
for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the
nations, and parted my land.
-
Zephaniah 3:8 Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the
day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations,
that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all
my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my
jealousy.
-
Isaiah 38:7 And this shall be a sign unto thee from the Lord,
that the Lord will do this thing that he hath spoken;
8 Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which
is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned
ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.
9 The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was
recovered of his sickness:
-
Sign = a present visible token or pledge. This word is used eight times in the
"former" portion and three times in the "latter" portion = compare Hezekiah's
sign.
-
The shadow of the degrees = It is to these "degrees", or steps of the sundial of
Ahaz his father, that Hezekiah refers in the title for "The Songs of the
Degrees".
-
Degrees = steps = Note the emphasis placed on these by the fivefold repetition
of the word.
-
Dial = degrees (making the fifth repetition of the word).
-
Joshua 10:12 Then spake Joshua to the
LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the
Amorites before the children of Israel, and he
said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand
thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon,
in the valley of Ajalon.
-
The sun dial = Hebrew the degrees by, or, with
the sun.
-
Or, as the Hebrew might be rendered, "the steps
of Ahaz." The researches of curious travellers
in Hindostan, observes Bp.
-
Stock, have lately discovered in that country,
three observatories of similar form, the most
remarkable of which is to be seen within four
miles of Delhi, the ancient capital of the Mogul
empire.
-
A rectangled triangle, whose hypotenuse
is a staircase, (apparently parallel to
the axis of the earth,) bisects a zone, or
coping of a wall, which wall connects the
two terminating towers at right and left.
-
The coping itself is of a circular form, and
accurately graduated, to mark, by the gnomon
above, the sun's progress before and after noon.
-
Send = as missionaries
-
Those that escape = the remnant of saved Israel
-
Tarshish = put for the far west
-
Pul and Lud = African peoples.
-
They are mentioned together, as serving in the Egyptian armies
-
Ezekiel 30:5 Ethiopia, and Libya, and Lydia, and all the mingled people, and
Chub, and the men of the land that is in league, shall fall with them by the
sword.
6 Thus saith the Lord; They also that uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of
her power shall come down: from the tower of Syene shall they fall in it by the
sword, saith the Lord God.
-
Tubal = the Scythian tribes.
-
Javan = Put for the Greeks settled in Asia Minor.
-
Isles = maritime countries.
19 And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape
of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow,
to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame,
neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the
Gentiles.
-
I will set a sign = God's elect teaching His
word
-
Tarshish = far west
-
Pul and Lud = Put for African peoples. They are
mentioned together, as serving in the Egyptian
armies.
-
Ezekiel 30:5 Ethiopia, and Libya, and Lydia, and
all the mingled people, and Chub, and the men of
the land that is in league, shall fall with them
by the sword.
6 Thus saith the Lord; They also that uphold
Egypt shall fall; and the pride
of her power shall come down: from the tower of
Syene shall they fall in it by the sword, saith
the Lord God.
-
Tubal = Meshech = Russia
-
Ezekiel 38:2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog,
the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and
prophesy against him,
-
To the isles afar off = Maritime countries
-
Isaiah 11:11 And it shall come to pass in that
day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the
second time to recover
the remnant of his people, which shall
be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from
Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from
Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of
the sea.
12 And he shall set up an ensign for the
nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of
Israel, and gather together the dispersed of
Judah from the four corners of the earth.
13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and
the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off:
Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall
not vex Ephraim.
14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the
Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil
them of the east together: they shall lay their
hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of
Ammon shall obey them.
-
Jeremiah 46:9 Come up, ye horses; and rage, ye
chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the
Ethiopians and the Libyans, that handle the
shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend
the bow.
10 For this is the day of the Lord God of hosts,
a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of
his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and
it shall be satiate and made drunk with their
blood: for the Lord God of hosts hath a
sacrifice in the north country by the river
Euphrates.
-
Nahum 3:9 Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength,
and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy
helpers.
-
19 And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape
of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow,
to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame,
neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the
Gentiles.
20 And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the Lord
out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and
upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to My Holy Mountain Jerusalem, saith
the Lord, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel
into the house of the Lord.
-
Shall bring = Not into the Church, but back into
the Holy Land.
An offering = a gift offering
Swift beasts: carriages
q horses.
-
R in chariots and litters.
-
Q upon mules.
-
R in carriages.
Swift beasts = to move in a circle; hence,
may mean (like English car) any vehicle on
wheels.
-
It is never used of animals.
-
There is nothing to suggest "swaying furnaces",
as suggested by some, to mean "locomotives".
Holy = Exodus 3:5 And he said, Draw not nigh
hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for
the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
-
As = according as
-
Bring an offering = Reference to Leviticus 2:1
And when any will offer a meat offering unto the
Lord, his offering shall be of fine flour; and
he shall pour oil upon it, and put frankincense
thereon:
21 And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the
Lord.
-
Them = Israel
-
Priests and for Levites = Deuteronomy
17:9 And thou shalt come unto the priests
the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in
those days, and inquire; and they shall shew
thee the sentence of judgment:
Priests = Thus completing the fulfillment of
Exodus 19:6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of
priests, and an Holy Nation. These are
the words which thou shalt speak unto the
children of Israel.
22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall
remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name
remain.
-
New heavens = new, in respect
-
To the old. Not the "new" of 2 Peter 3:13, or
-
Revelation 21:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ,
which God gave unto him, to shew unto his
servants things which must shortly come to pass;
and he sent and signified it by his angel unto
his servant John:
-
Note the contrast of this with the only two
references to the history of Revelation 21.
23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and
from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me,
saith the Lord.
24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that
have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither
shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all
flesh.
-
This time we're all in our own spiritual body
-
Matthew 10:28 And fear not
them which kill the body, but are not able to
kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able
to destroy both soul and body in hell.
-
Mark 9:44 Where
their worm dieth not, and the fire is not
quenched.
-
Deuteronomy 28:39 Thou shalt plant vineyards,
and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the
wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall
eat them.
