Psalms 17                                                                        Book of Psalms   Book of Psalms

One of five Psalms that is a prayer of Messiah, the true David

Psalms 17:1 Hear the right, O Lord, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

2 Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.

3 Thou has proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou has tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

4 Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
  • God's going to teach you, if you do the work = if you study His Word
  • The destroyer = the oppressor, or violent one
5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

  • At the same time, God's hands will correct those that follow Satan and do Satan's work.
8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
  • Keep me as the apple of the eye
9 From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.
  • The wicked = the lawless ones
  • My deadly enemies = the foes of my soul
10 They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.

11 They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;
  • Steps = ways, or goings
  • Psalms 17:5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
12 Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

13 Arise, O Lord, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:

14 From men which are thy hand, O Lord, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.
  • World = The world as being transitory
  • Psalms 49:1 Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world.
  • Thy hid = thy hidden, or secret thing.
  • They are = Let them be
  • Full = satisfied with
  • Psalms 17:15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
  • When I awake = when I awake from the sleep of death in resurrection.
  • Resurrection of the body is the true inheritance
  • Psalms 16:9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Exactly 2520 years from the exile of Benjamin, Iceland became an independent nation.

The first tribe to be conquered by the Assyrians was Manasseh, in 745 B.C. Exactly 2520 years later America became a nation on July 4, 1776.

(Leviticus. 26: 28-46) God warned Israel that if they persisted in continually breaking His Laws, not only would curses come upon them.

He would punish them for seven times, (a time being 360 years, seven times would be 2520 years) and would banish them from the land of Palestine and scatter them among the heathens (like lost sheep)
