AQUILA The Eagle The Smitten One Falling

AQUILA (The Eagle) The Smitten One Falling

Here we have an additional picture of the effect of this arrow, in the pierced, wounded, and falling Eagle, gasping in its dying struggle.

And that pierced, wounded, and dying Saviour whom it represents, after saying, in Psalms  38:2 "Thine arrows stick fast in Me," added, in verse 10 "My heart panteth, My strength faileth Me, As for the light of Mine eyes it is gone from Me." (see also Zech 13:6)

Zech 13:6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.

7 Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the Lord of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.

8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

The names of the stars, all of them, bear out this representation. The constellation contains 74 stars. The brightest of them, a (in the Eagle's neck), is a notable star of the 1st magnitude, called Al Tair (Arabic), the wounding.

The star b (in the throat) is called Al Shain (Arabic), the bright, from a Hebrew root meaning scarlet coloured, as in Josh 2:18.

The star g (in the back) is called Tarared, wounded, or torn. d (in the lower wing) is named Alcair, which means the piercing, and e (in the tail), Al Okal, has the significant meaning wounded in the heel.

Josh 2:18 Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee.

19 And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.

20 And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.

How can the united testimony of these names be explained except by acknowledging a Divine origin? even that of Him who afterwards foretold of the bruising of the Virgin's Son in the written Word; yea, of Him "who telleth the number of the stars and giveth them all their names. AQUILA The Eagle

Consists of 74 stars: one of the 1st magnitude: five of the 3rd: one of the 4th, etc.

As in the case of the Arrow, we have another figure, whose message is difficult to understand, when taken alone: a pierced, wounded and falling eagle. Its principal star is Al Tair, which in Arabic means "the wounded". Its second star, Al Shain means "the scarlet-colored-covered with blood". The third, Tarared, means "the torn", while that of another, Al Okal, means "wounded in the heel".

There is no satisfactory explanation of the meaning of these star-names except to elaborate on the same ideas which we find symbolized in the sign of Capricornus.

The Eagle is a royal bird and the natural enemy of the serpent. It is one of the Biblical symbols of Christ; "Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagle's wings and brought you unto myself (Ex. 19:4)· As an eagle, stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings; so the Lord alone did lead him" (Duet. 32:11, 12).

In this sign the noble Eagle, the promised Seed of the woman is shown pierced, torn and bleeding, that those in His image may be saved from death, protected and made to live forever.

"Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day, that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name "(Luke 24:46, 47); " ... for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation"(Rev. 5:9).

Exactly 2520 years from the exile of Benjamin, Iceland became an independent nation.

The first tribe to be conquered by the Assyrians was Manasseh, in 745 B.C. Exactly 2520 years later America became a nation on July 4, 1776.

(Leviticus. 26: 28-46) God warned Israel that if they persisted in continually breaking His Laws, not only would curses come upon them.

He would punish them for seven times, (a time being 360 years, seven times would be 2520 years) and would banish them from the land of Palestine and scatter them among the heathens (like lost sheep)
