Amos 5:1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel.
  • Take up = lift up as a burden
  • He's talking to 13 tribes of Israel
2 The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
  • Virgin = she didn't turn to God
  • The enemies came and took advanced of her
  • Virgin = for the house of Israel, a young girl who is beloved, as in Hosea.
  • She = "and shall not" cannot rise again
  • Isaiah 37:22 This is the word which the Lord hath spoken concerning him; The virgin, the daughter of Zion, hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.
  • Jeremiah 14:17 Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.
3 For thus saith the Lord God; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.
 
4 For thus saith the Lord unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:
  • 4th trump, It's to make a choice, choose to follow God or Satan
  • Seek ye me = study My word = if you love the Lord study and do His commandments
5 But seek not Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought.
  • Bethel = The House of God = They don't seek God's Word
  • Gilga, Beer-sheba = These were the seats of Israel's idolatrous worship.
  • Hosea 4:15 Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth-aven, nor swear, The Lord liveth.
    16 For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the Lord will feed them as a lamb in a large place.
    17 Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.
6 Seek the Lord, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel.
  • Notice the word Seek = Seek His Word = Keep My commandments
  • Bethel = House of God
  • Seek the Lord, you have to search out His word, and He will teach you
  • John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
    • 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
  • He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance
    • 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
  • Study His Word, ask the Lord to guide you
7 Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,
  • Wormwood = bitter (Revelation 8)
8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his name:
  • Orion = Return of the Branch
  • In the Denderah Zodiac his name is oar, from the Hebrew root Greek. = light: hence the glorious One
  • The seven stars = Hebrew kimah = cluster. Modern name, the Pleiades.
  • Job 9:9 Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
  • Job 38:31 Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?
  • Isaiah 13:10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
  • Job 9:9 Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
9 That strengtheneth the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.

10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.

11 Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.
  • The rulers rip off the people, the rulers tax businesses right out of business (The book of Joel)
12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
  • The rulers are supposed to be for the people.
  • They take bribes and work for the crooks; they don't work for the people
  • They tax the people and businesses were they have nothing left (The Book of Joel)
13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.

14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
  • Vote for those that are for the people = those that follow God's laws not Satan's ways
15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the Lord God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
  • Hate the evil works, hate the ways the evil rulers do to the people
16 Therefore the Lord, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.
  • Husbandman = farmers to mourning
  • They tax our farmers and businesses right out of business
  • Our farmers puts food on our tables, with all the taxes, it puts farmers right out of business
17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the Lord.

18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light.
  • Woe to those that have worshipped Satan
  • If you don't know the 6th trumpet sounds before the 7th trumpets, the day of the Lord will be darkness to you.
  • 2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
  • Darkness means opposite of the truth = deception and confusing
  • Elements = are the evil things and the evil people
  • 7th vial = God's wrath poured out on those that worshipped Satan (Revelation 16)
  • Hebrews 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.
  • Fire = to cleanse out all evil
  • Fire = Holy Spirit to warm your heart and teach us
  • Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
  • The day of Pentecost
  • All races were there
    • 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
  • A rushing mighty wind from heaven
    • 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
    4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
    John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
  • The Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit
  • Who shall teach you?
  • He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance
  • Romans 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.

20 Shall not the day of the Lord be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
  • I despise your feast days = Easter egg hunts, Santa clause, those that worship the sun, image worship, etc..
  • They try and take the Christians rights from those that try to do right
22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
  • He talking about the false teachers. They teach you don't need to read the Word of God. You're going to fly away.
  • Ezekiel 13:18 And say, Thus saith the Lord God; Woe to the women that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of my people, and will ye save the souls alive that come unto you?
    • 19 And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies?
  • By your lying to My people that hear your lies?
    • 20 Wherefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.
23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.

24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
  • Forty years = probation
  • What happen when Moses went up on the mount?
  • They made a molten calf and  worshipped the calf
  • They saw the red sea open up and still worshipped the golden calf
  • What did they do?
  • The people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
  • Exodus 13:3 And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.
  • Exodus 13:18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
    19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.
  • Exodus 32:3 And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.
    4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
    5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the Lord.
  • Exodus 15:22 So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.
    23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.
    24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
    25 And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,
  • Exodus 17:2 Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the Lord?
    3 And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?
    4 And Moses cried unto the Lord, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.
26 But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.
  • Chiun your images, the star of your god = Satan
  • Moloch = they teach you're going to burn in hell if you don't do = what they say
27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the Lord, whose name is The God of hosts.

•  The first tribe to be conquered by the Assyrians was Manasseh, in 745 B.C. Exactly 2520 years later America became a nation on July 4, 1776.
