Sagittarius, The Redeemer's Triumph
In the Sign Sagittarius, we again have the figure of a Centaur indicating the
double-natured Seed of the Virgin-the Son of God as the Son of Man.
This brings us to the first of the three constellations or sections of this
chapter, which takes up this subject of praise to the Conqueror.
SAGITTARIUS (A).
The Redeemer's triumph.
-
LYRA. Praise prepared for the Conqueror.
-
ARA. Fire prepared for His enemies.
-
DRACO. The dragon cast down.
In the Indian sacred books there is a "tenth avatar" predicted, when Vishnu, the
second in the divine Triad, is to come as a man on a white horse, overthrowing
his enemies and rooting out all evil from the earth.
The same story is told in Revelation (in the New testament) when the "King of
Kings" and "Lord of Lords" comes forth to do battle against Satan, and the false
Prophet and all their armies in that great "Day of the Lord".
Revelation 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded;
and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of
this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of
his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God
on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,
17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty,
which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to
thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
18 And the nations were angry, and thy (7th vial) wrath
is come, and the time of the dead (spiritually dead to God's
word) , that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give
reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and
them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy
them which destroy the earth.
19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there
was seen in his temple the ark of his testament:
and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an
earthquake, and great hail.
Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold
a white horse; and he that sat upon him was
called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth
judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on
his head were many crowns; and he had a name
written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in
blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
He comes in the form of a man sitting upon a white horse, in
righteousness, judging and making war, the same as in Sagittarius.
We must understand the Archer is at war with the Scorpion and all the
evil creatures associated with it, and his going forth is for their
destruction.
The figure is representative of the office and purpose of the glorified Christ
to pierce and wound the Serpent, to destroy all his works and power,
and to
disable him forever.
In this Archer we see a faint reflection of Him who shall presently come forth,
all gracious, all wise, all powerful; whose arrows shall be "sharp in the heart
of the King's enemies."
"Christ is coming! let Creation From her groans and travail cease; Let the
glorious proclamation Hope restore, and faith increase. Christ is coming, Come,
thou blessed Prince of peace."
The first of the three minor constellations in the sign Sagittarius takes up the
subject of praise for the Conqueror
The figure is that of a mighty warrior with a bow and arrow, riding forth
majestically.
The barbed arrow in his bow is aimed at the heart of the Scorpion.

Sagittarius. Hebrew kesheth (an archer) (Genesis 21:20). The brightest star,
Hebrew. channun = the gracious one ( Ps 45:2). Accadian, Nun-ki = Prince of
the earth. In Zodiac of Denderah, Pi-maere = graciousness, and Knem, He
conquers.
Genesis 21:20 And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the
wilderness, and became an archer.
Psalm 45:2 Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into
thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.
- LYRA. (Ps 65:1.) The brightest star Vega = He shall
be exalted. In Zodiac of Denderah = Fent-kar = the
serpent
ruled. Originally an eagle, from confusion between Hebrew. nesher,
and shir (song, or music).
- ARA, and alter upside down, pointing to Tartarus (Isa
63:4,5). Arab. Al mugamra = the completing or finishing (Ps
21:9-12).
- DRACO. Ends the first book. The dragon cast down.
CETUS ends
the second book. Leviathan bound. HYDRA ends the third book. The
old serpent destroyed. Draco = trodden on. (Ps 91:13;
74:12-14. Isa 27:1). In Zodiac of Denderah it is a
serpent under the fore-feet of Sagittarius and called Her-fent =
the serpent accursed. The brightest star c 1000 alled Thuban =
the subtle.
This is the concluding chapter of the first great book of this Heavenly
Revelation; and it is occupied wholly with the triumph of the Coming One, who is
represented as going forth "conquering and to conquer."
The subject is beautifully set forth in the written Word.
Psalms 64:7-10 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; Suddenly shall they be
wounded. So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves; All that
see them shall flee away. And all men shall fear, and shall declare
the work of
God; For they shall wisely consider of His doing. The righteous shall be glad in
the LORD, and shall trust in Him; And all the upright in heart shall glory."
Psalms 45:3-5 Gird Thy sword upon Thy thigh, O most mighty, Gird Thyself with
Thy glory and Thy majesty, And in Thy majesty ride propserously, Because of
truth, and meekness, and righteousness; And Thy right hand shall teach Thee
terrible things. Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the King's enemies;
Whereby the people fall under Thee."
This is precisely what is foreshadowed in the star-pictured sign now called by
the modern Latin name Sagittarius , which means the Archer.
The Hebrew and Syriac name of the sign is Kesith, which means
the Archer (as in Gen 21:20). The Arabic name is Al Kaus, the
arrow. In Coptic it is Pimacre, the graciousness, or beauty of the
coming forth. In Greek it is Toxotes, the archer, and in Latin Sagittarius.
The names of the brightest stars are significant: Hebrew, Naim,
which means the gracious one. This is exactly what is said of
this Victor in the same Psalm (45), in the words immediately preceding the
quotation above:
"GRACE is poured into Thy lips; Therefore God hath blessed Thee for ever."
Hebrew, Nehushta, the going or sending forth.
We see the same in the Arabic names which have come down to us: Al Naim,
the gracious one; Al Shaula, the dart; Al
Warida, who comes forth; Ruchba or rami, the riding of the bowman.
An ancient Akkadian name in the sign is Nun-ki, which means Prince of
the Earth.
Again we have the picture of a Centaur as to his outward form, a being with
two
natures.
Not now far down in the south, or connected with His sufferings and sacrifice as
man; but high up, as a sign of the Zodiac itself, on the ecliptic, in the very
path in which the sun "rejoiceth in his going forth as a strong man."
According to Grecian fable, this Sagittarius is Cheiron , the
chief Centaur; noble in character, righteous in his dealings, divine in his
power.
Such will be the coming Seed of the woman in His power and glory:
Psalm 45:6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of
thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy
God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
In the ancient Zodiac of Denderah he is called (as in Coptic)
Pi-maere, graciousness, beauty of the appearing or coming forth. The characters
under the hind foot read Knem, which means He conquers.
This is He who shall come forth like as an arrow from the bow, "full of grace,"
but "conquering and to conquer."
In all the pictures he is similarly represented, and the arrow in his bow is
aimed directly at the heart of the Scorpion.
Thus ARATUS said of Cheiron: "'Midst golden stars he stands refulgent now, And
thrusts the scorpion with his bended bow."
In Hebrew, the name of this constellation is "Kesith", which
means "the Archer"; in Arabic, "Al Kaus ",
meaning "the arrow".
In Hebrew, the names of the two brightest stars are,
significantly, "Nairn", which means "the gracious one",
and "Nehushla", meaning "the going" or "sending forth".
In ancient Akkadian the name of this picture is "Nun-Ki",
meaning "Prince of the earth".
Under this constellation in the ancient Zodiac of Denderah is
the word "Knem" (in hieroglyphics) which means "He
conquers".
According to Greek myths, "Cheiron", as the Greeks called this
sign, was the great teacher of mankind in heavenly wisdom, medicine and all
noble arts.
He was a gracious King, especially blessed of God, whose name every
generation shall remember and whom the people shall praise for ever and ever.
Although the Greeks recognized the attributes expressed by this sign and its
star-names, the original story had been lost by their time.
The Hindoos, although lacking understanding of the
promised Seed of the woman, did recognize the nature of the meaning of
this constellation.
• Exactly 2520 years from the exile
of Benjamin, Iceland became an independent nation.
•
The first tribe to be
conquered by the Assyrians was Manasseh,
in 745 B.C. Exactly 2520 years later America became a nation on July 4, 1776.
(Leviticus. 26: 28-46) God warned Israel that if they persisted in continually
breaking His Laws, not only would curses come upon them.
He would punish them for seven times, (a time being 360 years, seven times would
be 2520 years) and would banish them from the land of Palestine and scatter them
among the heathens (like lost sheep)
