The Sign Aquarius The Water Bearer, Their blessings ensured, or the living
waters of blessing poured forth for the redeemed.
The Atonement being made, the blessings have been procured, and now
they can be bestowed and poured forth upon the Redeemed. This is the
truth, whether we think of Abel's lamb, of patriarchal sacrifices, the
offerings under the Law, or of that great Sacrifice of which they all testified.
They all with one voice tell us that atonement made is the only
foundation of blessing.
This was pictured and foreshown in the heavens from the beginning,
by a man pouring forth water from an urn which seems to have an inexhaustible
supply, and which flows forth downwards into the mouth of a fish, which receives
it and drinks it all up.
Aquarius. In the Zodiac of Denderah he has two urns. The fish seems to have come
out of one of them.
In the Hebrew the name Dali = water-urn or bucket
Numbers 24:7 He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed
shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his
kingdom shall be exalted.
8 God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an
unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones,
and pierce them through with his arrows.
The man is
called Hupei Tirion, which means the place of him coming down
or poured forth.
Brightest star Sa'ad al Melik = the record of the pouring forth.
The next Sa'ad al Sund = who goeth and returneth
Isaiah 32:1 Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes
shall rule in judgment.
2 And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from
the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in
a weary land.
Isaiah 35:1 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them;
and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.
6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the
dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the
desert.
Isaiah 44:2 Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb,
which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, My servant; and thou, Jesurun,
whom I have chosen.
3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry
ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine
offspring:
4 And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water
courses.
5 One shall say, I am the LORD'S; and another shall call himself
by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the
LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.
6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I
am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no
God.
Isaiah 51:3 For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her
waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the
garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and
the voice of melody.
In some eastern Zodiacs the urn alone appears.
There are 108 stars in this Sign, four of which are of the 3 rdmagnitude. Their
names, as far as they have come down to us, are significant.
The star a (in the right shoulder) is called Sa'ad al
Melik, which means The record of the pouring forth.
The star b (in the other shoulder) is called Saad al Sund,
who goeth and returneth, or the pourer out.
The bright star d (in the lower part of the right leg)
is well-known today by its Hebrew name Scheat, which means who
goeth and returneth.
The bright star in the urn has an Egyptian name-Mon or
Meon, which means simply an urn.
Aquarius is the modern Latin name by which the sign is known.
It has the same meaning, the pourer forth of water.
Can we doubt what is the interpretation of this sign? The Greeks, not knowing
Him of whom it testified, were, like the woman of Samaria, destitute of
that living water which He alone can give.
They therefore invented some story about Deucalion, the son of
Prometheus; and another, saying he is Ganymede, Jove's cup-bearer!
But, as an astronomer says, "We must account otherwise for the origin of this
name; for it is not possible to reconcile the symbols of the eleventh
sign (because everyone begins to reckon from Aries,
and not as we have done from Virgo) with Grecian mythology."
No! we must go further back than that, and not cramp our
vision, and distort the Scriptures, by confining our thoughts to "the
Church." The Church is nowhere seen in these Signs, as
it is nowhere revealed in the Old Testament. This we shall enlarge on
when we come to the sign Pisces.
Meanwhile we must read the witness of the stars as if there had been no Church!
Christ is first. Yea, He is all in all. The Scriptures testify
of Him; and the very stars in this Sign tell of His going away and His
coming again.
These prophetic signs have to do with Him, with the Atonement
He wrought, with the conflict He endured, with the blessings He secured, with
the victory He shall win, and the triumph He shall have. For it
is written:
Numbers 24:7 He shall pour the water out of His buckets, And His seed shall be
in many waters, And His king shall be higher than Agag, And His kingdom shall be
exalted."
It tells of that glorious day when Isaiah 32:1-2 A King shall reign in
righteousness; And princes shall rule in judgment; And a MAN shall be as an
hiding place from the wind, And a covert from the tempest; As RIVERS of WATER in
a dry place.
Isaiah 33:17,20,21 It speaks of that glorious time when Israel shall be
restored, and their "eyes shall see the King in His beauty"; when the
peace of Zion shall be no more disturbed, "but there the
glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams".
Isaiah 35:1-6 Then The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them;
And the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose, For in the wilderness
shall waters break out, And streams in the desert. I will open rivers in high
places, And fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a
pool of water, And the dry land springs of water." Isaiah 41:18
Isaiah 44:2,3,6 Fear not, O Jacob, My servant; And thou, Jesurun, whom I have
chosen, For I will POUR WATER upon him that is thirsty, And floods upon the dry
ground; I will pour My Spirit upon thy seed, And My blessing upon thy
offspring. Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, And his Redeemer the
LORD of hosts. Isaiah 44:2,3,6
This is the meaning of the Sign. The MAN Christ Jesus, who was humbled in death
will yet be seen to be the pourer forth of every blessing. Physically pouring
forth literal waters, removing the curse, and turning this world into a
paradise:
Isaiah 51:3 Making her wilderness like Eden, And her desert like the garden of
the LORD.
And morally pouring forth His Spirit in such abundance as to fill the whole
earth with peace, and blessing, and glory, "as the waters cover the sea."
Upon Israel restored He will pour out His blessing. They will
be sprinkled with clean water, and possess a new heart and a new spirit Ezekiel
36:24-28; Joel 2:28-32.
Such are some of the Scriptures which tell of this glorious Water-pourer. We
need not rob Christ of His glory, or Israel of her blessing, in order to see in
all this Pentecost or the Church. These are quite independent of the great line
of prophetic truth. They are parenthetical, and distinct, and true, quite apart
from the glorious prophecies of Israel's scattering and gathering. The physical
marvels referred to in the texts above can never be satisfied or exhausted by
any spiritual fulfilment. We may make an application of them as far as is
consistent with the teaching of the epistles; but the interpretation of them
belongs to the Person of Christ, and the nation of Israel. That interpretation
is pictured for us in the Sign, and in its three constellations. (from The
Witness of the Stars, by E. W. Bullinger)
The Sign Aquarius The Water Bearer
Consists of 108 stars: four of the 3rd magnitude, etc.
This is the figure of a man, holding a great urn in his left hand, from which is
pouring out an inexhaustible stream of water. The water is flowing downwards
into the mouth of a great fish, which receives it and swallows it all. Aquarius
is the modern Latin name by which this sign is known. It has the meaning "the
pourer forth of water".
The name of the principal star (in the right shoulder) is "Sa ad al Melik"
meaning "record of the outpouring". A second star (in the ot her shoulder) is
known as "Saad al Sund", "who goeth and returneth" or "the pourer out". A third
star (in the lower part of the left leg) is called by the Hebrew name "Scheat"
which means "w ho goeth and returneth". Another bright star (in the urn)
has an Egyptian name "Mon" or "Meon" meaning "an urn".
Mythology calls the man "Ganymedes", the bright, glorified and happy One, so
beautiful on earth that the great King and Father of gods carried him away to
heaven on eagles wings to live in glory with immortals. Classic art associates
him with an eagle and a bowl and, again, as the exalted companion of the eternal
Father. Such descriptions obviously have their roots in Jesus Christ of whom the
Father said; "Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased Mark
1:11.
Following immediately after the constellations portraying atonement, Aquarius
pictures the blessings which follow: the in exhaustible reservoir of water
symbolizes the fulness of the renewing, comforting and sanctifying power of His
Holy Spirit. "I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and
daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall
see visions" Joel 2:28. This prophecy, so graphically illustrated by the
heavenly water bearer, denotes a physical application to restored Israel; their
identity temporarily lost to history, but known to God.
Isaiah prophesied of the time when Israel shall be restored, and their eyes
shall see their King in His beauty, in these words: "Fear not 0 Jacob, my
servant; and thou Jesurun, whom I have chosen. For I will pour water upon him
that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy
seed, and my blessings upon thy offspring" Isaiah 44:2-3.
It should be pointed out that Israel is the people to whom Jesus sent His
disciples. They were the "Lost Sheep of the House of Israel" who (together with
a large portion of the House of Judah that did not go into Babylonian captivity}
have been identified by archaeology as the Cimmerians and Scythians. They, in
turn, formed the modern Anglo-Saxon, Scandinavian, Germanic, Lombardic and
Celtic nations. The House of Israel is today an
innumerable multitude apart from Jewry, a fact which the Jewish Chronicle of May
2, 1879 recognized by its reference to the ten lost tribes as represented by
peoples who are not Jews.
The Scriptures speak of a future restoration of the House of Israel who were
divorced from the Mosaic law, their identity being temporarily lost. They were
to be recovenanted, in Christ, to enjoy the Israel birthright through Joseph, a
"multitude of nations", in the Isles of the Sea and the land in the wilderness;
to be His national evangelists in the world, and the inheritors of the Kingdom
of God. The prophets displayed meticulous care when addressing the "House of
Israel" or the "House of Judah". To apply a prophecy which refers to one "House"
to the other is clearly to misapply the message and confuse the issue. A careful
regard of this distinction is prerequisite to the correct understanding of the
prophetic Scriptures as well as the symbology of the Zodiac.
Isaiah speaks of the time when Israel will reconstitute the Kingdom of God; "the
glorious Lord will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams Isaiah
33:21.
Ezekiel also foretold Israel's restoration to receive His blessings: "For I will
take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will
bring you into your own land Ezekiel 36:24.
This was in
fulfillment of God's covenant with Israel: "Moreover I will appoint a place for
my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their
own, and move no more, neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any
more, as beforetime II Sam. 7:10. Since the children of Israel were in
Palestine at the time of that promise, it follows that the appointed place had
to be somewhere other than Palestine. The westward movement of the Israel clans
is traced (out of the East-from the land of their Assyrian
captivities) by their "way marks", left behind them, as they journeyed toward
their ultimate destinations.
Theologians may scoff at identifying the Western Christian nations as being of
ancient Israel but they have no explanation for these peoples who do not know
their ancestral origin but who possess all the distinguishing marks of the
so-called lost "House of Israel". Eventually they will be found and recognized,
not only by themselves, but by the rest of the nations of the earth. Because
these were the people of whom God told Hosea to say: "Ye are not my people and
I will not be your God", many theologians believe the House of Israel was cut
off forever. However, they overlook the further prophecy of Hosea 1:9-10 which
states: "Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the
sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered: and it shall come to pass, that in
the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be
said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God. "
• Exactly 2520 years from the exile
of Benjamin, Iceland became an independent nation.
•
The first tribe to be
conquered by the Assyrians was Manasseh,
in 745 B.C. Exactly 2520 years later America became a nation on July 4, 1776.
(Leviticus. 26: 28-46) God warned Israel that if they persisted in continually
breaking His Laws, not only would curses come upon them.
He would punish them for seven times, (a time being 360 years, seven times would
be 2520 years) and would banish them from the land of Palestine and scatter them
among the heathens (like lost sheep)
