Proverbs 1

Proverbs 1                                                Book of Proverbs   Book of Proverbs

Proverbs 1:1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
  • Proverbs means to rule, to have power, governor, in Greek any dark sententious
  • Proverbs means comparison, be wise or unwise a fool
  • God gives us a choice to be wise or be a fool
  • To rule and govern the life.
  • Not a collection of human wisdom, but of Divine rules from heaven for earth.
2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
  • To know wisdom is to use common sense
  • To know = For discerning
  • True Wisdom = discernment or discrimination
  • Understand, Once knowledge, heart; rendered wisdom, be wise
3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
  • To do what's right, to use common sense.
  • To choose the right way
4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
  • To help the young, etc.. teach the word of God to the young to be wise
5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
  • He will seek wise counsels, from God's word, and from a wise person
6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
  • A wise person can see through dark saying, wisdom will help you understand
  • Always wait and pray on something before you do it, think about it first
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
  • Fear = reverence
  • All wisdom beginning from God
  • True wisdom is to justify God and condemn oneself.
  • This is the first thing to know, wisdom
  • This has double meaning, comparison both be wise or unwise
  • If you're doing wrong, God's going to punish you for doing wrong.
  • Fools have no knowledge of God's word = careless habit of mind and body.
8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
  • The neck is the weak part of the body
  • Once you have wisdom,  you care it with you, you'll be wise
  • It's the seal of God, to know what's right or wrong
10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
  • Don't go the ways of the world, you know what's right
11 If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
  • Fools say, let's rip off the innocent, it's okay
  • The fools don't care about no one, but themselves
  • Lay wait for blood is to murder
  • Fools are careless of people
12 Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
  • Matthew 13 good seeds and the tares
  • The pit, the lake of fire
13 We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
  • If you're ripping people off, you're never going to get ahead
  • They're never going to be happy, they only want to do evil.
14 Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
  • Government brings in Communism and socialism, same as ripping people off.
  • Taking from the people that work, and giving to the people that won't work.
  • I'm not talking about the disabled people.
  • I'm talking about the lazy people.. give me .. busybodies that don't work. Because they are too busy ripping people off.
  • Exodus 30:15 The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering unto the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.
  • 2 Thessalonians 3:6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
    7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
8 Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
  • Stay far away from the fools
16 For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
  • Let' take a drug dealer = dead man walking = no peace
  • A thief that steals and murderers = dead man walking = no peace
  • God hates a drug dealer, there will not be one in heaven
17 Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
  • He does it to himself
18 And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
  • Likeness to Drug dealers and murderers, etc.. they set up their on net, by doing wrong.
  • Dead man walking = they setup their own net, they know they're going to get caught
19 So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

20 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
  • Its called common sense
21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
  • This is where Justice is done
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
  • Simplicity = fools
  • Fools love to do wrong
23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
  • If you will search for wisdom, wisdom will help you.
  • Ask God for wisdom not man
24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
  • Time after time, you're still doing wrong
26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
  • God's not going to help you, if you're doing wrong.
  • God's going to mock you.
  • God tells us how to live, but man won't listen
27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
  • If you're living life of ripping off people, your destruction cometh as a whirlwind
28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
  • There comes a time when God won't be there for you, if you turn away from God's wisdom
  • All wisdom and blessing come from God
  • Verse 26, God's going to laugh at you.
29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord:
  • They hate doing what's right,  they eat of the fruit of their own way
  • Eat of their fruit = works
  • Fear = to love God
30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
  • They wouldn't listen, they like to do wrong
  • Some people live to do wrong
31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
  • Eat of the fruit of their own way = your works
  • Don't blame God, you have done it to yourself
  • It's to make a choice, if you choose to follow God or Satan
  • Revelation 12:41/3 followed Satan, look up the word tail
  • Tail is from Trail NT:138 Greek; choose. NT:138; to make a choice
32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
  • If you're ripping people off and never doing any good.
  • It's your choice to be with God or go on the left side of heaven, waiting for the millennium ... fools don't knowing what's going to happen after dead.
  • You're not going to sleep at night, because you're always looking over your shoulders.
  • Fools live in fear; they're always looking over their shoulders, fear of law or someone coming after them.
33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
  • If you choice to follow God, God going to keep you safe in wisdom, to be wise.
  • You're going to be able sleep at night.
  • Wisdom of God, will help you.
  • 1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
  • Infidel = unbeliever
  • If any provide not for his own = Men are supposed to take care of their family
  • If you're not taking care of your family, you're worse then an unbeliever
