Hosea 6
The Book of Hosea
Hosea 6:1 Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and
he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
-
Let us return = These are the words of Israel in
a yet future day, as already symbolized by the
return of Gomer.
-
Hosea 3:2 So I bought her to me for fifteen
pieces of silver, and for an homer of barley,
and an half homer of barley:
3 And I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me
many days; thou shalt not play
the harlot, and thou shalt not be for another
man: so will I also be for thee.
-
Foretold in = Hosea 3:5 Afterward shall the
children of Israel return, and seek the Lord
their God, and David their king; and shall fear
the Lord and his goodness in the latter days.
-
In the LATTER days
-
Afterward = This mark of time has not yet been
reached.
-
It corresponds with the "many days" of verse 4
-
Return = Return to God
-
Jeremiah 50:4 In those days, and in that time, saith the Lord, the children of
Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and
weeping: they shall go, and seek the Lord their God.
-
5 They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying,
Come, and let us join ourselves to the Lord in a perpetual covenant that
shall not be forgotten.
-
Hosea 5:15 I will go and return to My place,
till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my
face: in their affliction they will seek Me
early.
-
He will heal us = Jeremiah 30:17 For I will
restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee
of thy wounds, saith the Lord; because they
called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion,
whom no man seeketh after.
2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us
up, and we shall live in his sight.
-
What did he say?
-
The 7th trumpet has sounded, Christ is with us
-
After two days = two days after this national
repentance.
-
Hosea 5:15 I will go and return to my place,
till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my
face: in their affliction they will seek me
early.
-
Revive us = bring us back to life.
-
In = on
-
Live = live again in resurrection. Referring to
the yet future resurrection of the new Israel
(Ezekiel 37), which will thus resemble the
resurrection of Messiah (1 Cor 15:20).
-
In His sight = Hebrew = before His face,
as their sin had been
-
Hosea 7:2 And they consider not in their hearts
that I remember all their
wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before
my face.
3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth
is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as
the latter and former rain unto the earth.
-
God's word is going to come to pass, Just As God
Said
-
You have to let the living God into your life
-
Rain = He shall come down like rain
-
Psalms 72:6 He shall come down like rain upon
the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.
-
Former Rain = Deut 11:14 That I will give you
the rain of your land in his due season, the
first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest
gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.
-
Job 29:23 And they waited for me as for the
rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for
the latter rain.
24 If I laughed on them, they believed it not;
and the light of my countenance they cast not
down.
-
Jeremiah 5:24 Neither say they in their heart,
Let us now fear the Lord our God, that giveth
rain, both the former and the latter, in his
season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks
of the harvest.
25 Your iniquities have turned away these
things, and your sins have withholden good
things from you.
26 For among my people are found wicked men:
they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they
set a trap, they catch men.
4 O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto
thee? for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it
goeth away.
-
Ephraim = 10 tribes
-
God is saying, How can I count on you?
5 Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the
words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.
-
Light = just as the sun comes up, I am going to
judge you
6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more
than burnt offerings.
-
I want your loving kindness, I want you to study
My word
-
I want you to love Me, If you love Me, keep My
commandments
-
Matthew 9:13 But go ye and learn what that
meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice:
for I am not come to call the righteous, but
sinners to repentance.
-
Righteous = self righteous people
-
Mercy = love
-
1 Corinthians 5:3 For I
verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already,
as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,
4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered
together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus
Christ,
5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the
flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth
the whole lump?
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye
are unleavened. For even
Christ our
Passover is
sacrificed for us:
-
Jesus was sacrifice for our sins = no more sacrificed
7 But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they
dealt treacherously against me.
-
They went against My Commandments and follow
their commandments
-
2
Timothy
2:14 Of these things put them
in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not
about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
15 Study to shew thyself approved
unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing
the word of truth.
-
Hosea 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:
because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that
thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of
thy God, I will also forget thy children.
-
Jeremiah 4:22 For my people is foolish, they
have not known me; they are sottish
children, and they have none understanding: they are
wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
-
Sottish = To be silly = to be stupid
8 Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and is polluted with
blood.
-
Hosea 4:15 Though thou, Israel, play the harlot,
yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto
Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth-aven, nor
swear, The Lord liveth.
9 And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests
murder in the way by consent: for they commit lewdness.
10 I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there is the
whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.
11 Also, O Judah, he hath set an harvest for thee, when I returned the
captivity of My people.
