Genesis 19:1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot
sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet
them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
-
Two angels came to Sodom
-
Lot seeing them, rose up to meet them, and bowed
-
Sodom means flaming and burning
-
Gate means The seat of judgment showing that Lot
was a real citizen
-
End times = My two witnesses = Revelation 11:3
And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and
they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and
threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into
your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet,
and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said,
Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
-
Lot offers the angels his home for the night
-
The angels says, nay we will abide in the street
all night
3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him,
and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did
bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.
-
The angels enter Lot's home, Lot's made
a feast, they did eat
4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of
Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the
people from every quarter:
-
Men from every quarter compassed Lot's house
5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men
which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that
we may know them.
-
The men telling Lot to bring out the men, the
angels
-
We may know them - lie with man
-
Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as
with womankind: it is abomination.
6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door
after him,
-
Lot goes out unto the men
7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
-
Lot telling them, do not so wickedly
8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let
me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is
good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore
came they under the shadow of my roof.
-
Can you see what's these men wanted?
-
Lot's offers his two virgins daughters to the
men
9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one
fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now
will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed
sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
-
Men telling Lot to stand back, they tried to
break into Lot's home
10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the
house to them, and shut to the door.
-
The angels, put forth their hands, and pulled
lot into the house
11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house
with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied
themselves to find the door.
-
The angels smote the men, where they couldn't
find the door
12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in
law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast
in the city, bring them out of this place:
-
The men still are not given up, they tell Lot to
come out, and all that was in Lot's home
13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is
waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent
us to destroy it.
-
The angels wants to destroy this place, The
angels told Lot, the Lord, sent us to destroy it
14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which
married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place;
for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that
mocked unto his sons in law.
-
Lot went out, telling his family to get out of
this place, for the Lord will destroy this city.
-
But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons
in law.
-
One that mocked means talked nonsense
15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot,
saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are
here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
-
The angels told Lot to take his family and
leave, because they were going to consumed the
city
16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and
upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two
daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought
him forth, and set him without the city.
-
The men tried to hold Lot and his family back,
The Lord and the angels brought him out side the
city.
17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad,
that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither
stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be
consumed.
-
The angels told them to go, and do not look
back, lest thou be consumed.
18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:
19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and
thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in
saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some
evil take me, and I die:
-
Lot's saying, I cannot escape to the mountain,
lest some evil take me, and I die:
20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a
little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?)
and my soul shall live.
21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning
this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the
which thou hast spoken.
22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till
thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called
Zoar.
-
For I cannot do any thing till thou be come
thither
23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.
-
Sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered
into Zoar.
24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone
and fire from the LORD out of
heaven;
-
The LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire
from the LORD out of
heaven;
25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the
inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
-
Overthrew = These cities are not in the Dead
Sea, but their ruins have been discovered by M.
de Saulcy (called to-day Kharbet-Goumran), about
4 miles square (Journey round the Dead Sea)
-
A = cities = b = plain.
-
A = cities (inhabitants) = b = plain (produce).
26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became
a
pillar of salt.
-
Lot's wife, she looked back: curiously.
-
Don't be as Lot's wife, he said, Escape for thy
life; look not behind thee.
-
She did and turned into a pillar of salt
-
Genesis 19:17 And it came to pass, when they had
brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape
for thy life; look not behind thee,
neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to
the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
-
Became = Same word as Genesis 1:2 the earth
became.
-
Genesis 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the
face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the
waters.
-
The word "was" in the Hebrew means "became" and
should have been translated became without form.
-
In
Hebrew the words ''without form'' are ''tohu va bohu'', Which
indicates ''because'' (tohu), not created. This
means the world, that was, became void, or was destroyed, Because
of Satan
-
Thus,
only begins this world age.
-
The
world that is and not the beginning of earth in Genesis 1:1.
-
The only possible deduction from this is that
God destroyed the world that was.
-
The spirit of God moved upon the face of the
waters.
-
This then concerns a new or renewed world.
-
Luke 17:31 In that day, he which shall be
upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house,
let him not come down to take it away: and he
that is in the field, let him likewise not
return back.
32 Remember Lot's wife.
27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he
stood before the LORD:
28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the
land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country
went up as the smoke of a furnace.
-
Looked toward = A different word from Genesis
19:27.
-
Abraham bent forward and looked with awe and
grief.
-
Smoke = it does not say he saw the cities, but
only the smoke.
29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the
plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the
midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the
which Lot dwelt.
-
Remembered = Lot's
deliverance due to Abraham's prayer
30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and
his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and
he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old,
and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the
manner of all the earth:
32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with
him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the
firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not
when she lay down, nor when she arose.
34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said
unto the younger, Behold, I lay yester night with my father: let
us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie
with him, that we may preserve seed of our Father.
35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and
the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when
she lay down, nor when she arose.
36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their
father.
37 And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the
same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.
-
Moab = Hebrew word from a father of the Moabites
-
A.M. 2108. B.C. 1896
-
Deuteronomy 23:3 An Ammonite or Moabite
shall not enter into the congregation of
the LORD; even to their tenth
generation shall they not enter into the
congregation of the LORD for ever:
-
Jeremiah 48:1
Against Moab
thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel;
Woe unto Nebo! for it is
spoiled: Kiriathaim is confounded and taken:
Misgab is confounded and dismayed.
38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name
Benammi: the same is the father of the children of
Ammon unto
this day.
-
Ben-ammi = Hebrew word son of Ammi = "the god
Am".
-
Begotten in shame, both had a shameful history.
(verses 30-37) Lots daughters with their father
-
Genesis 14:5 And in the fourteenth year came
Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him,
and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and
the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh
Kiriathaim,
6 And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El-paran,
which is by the wilderness.
-
Deut 2:20 (That also was accounted a
land of giants: giants dwelt therein in
old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;
21 A people great, and many, and tall, as the
Anakims; but the Lord destroyed them
before them; and they succeeded them,
and dwelt in their stead:
22 As he did to the children of Esau,
which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the
Horims from before them; and they succeeded
them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this
day:
23 And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even
unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out
of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their
stead.)
-
Deut 23:3 An Ammonite or Moabite shall
not enter into the congregation of the Lord;
even to their tenth generation shall they
not enter into the congregation of the
Lord for ever:
4 Because they met you not with bread
and with water in the way, when ye came
forth out of Egypt; and because they hired
against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of
Mesopotamia, to curse thee.
