Proverbs 3

Proverbs 3:1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my
commandments:

Wisdom's calls = Increase or grow in
wisdom

Keep My Commandments

Keep = watch and guard
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
-
As the days and years lengthen and increase they
will be to thy wisdom, if thou forget not.
-
So in other passages where wisdom is supposed to
promise long life, which is does not.
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write
them upon the table of thine heart:
-
Mercy, loving kindness, or grace
-
Focus on God's word, do things God's ways
4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God
and man.
-
Understanding = insight = You can see the truth
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own
understanding.
-
Don't count on yourself, always talk to God
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
-
If you talk to God, He will direct your path
-
Acknowledge = recognize or own
-
Direct = right divide = dividing and thus
showing what's right or pleasing to God.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study
to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman
that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the
word of truth.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

Don't be around evil = Satan's ways
-
Be pleasing to God.
-
Fear = to love God
8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Health = healing
-
Navel = the whole body
9 Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all
thine increase:
-
Love the Lord by keeping His Commandments, doing
what's right
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst
out with new wine.

Keep God's commandments = Then God will bless
you.
11 My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of
his correction:
-
When God corrects you, thank the Lord for
correcting you.
-
Focus on God, not the world
12 For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in
whom he delighteth.
-
If you love your children, you will teach them
what's right.
-
God will correct you, if you start to go on the
wrong path.
-
Hebrew 12:5 And ye have forgotten the
exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto
children, My son, despise not thou the
chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art
rebuked of him:
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and
scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth
understanding.

Be happy in wisdom = you're have peace of mind.

Money won't make you happy
-
Be rich in wisdom, knowing God's word.
14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver,
and the gain thereof than fine gold.
-
Wisdom doesn't get any better, know God's plan
15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst
desire are not to be compared unto her.
-
First seek God's wisdom, God knows what you
need.
16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and
honour.

In her right hand = in her power
-
Power for use as a grand agency for good of all
kinds
-
Riches = to do what's right
17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
-
Peace = well-being or prosperity
18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is
every one that retaineth her.
-
Tree of life = Christ
-
Hang onto wisdom, don't let wisdom go, be happy
19 The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he
established the heavens.
-
By wisdom, we get understanding
20 By His knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down
the dew.
-
By God's Knowledge
-
Clouds = skies
-
Dew falls only when there are no clouds
21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and
discretion:
-
Perhaps refers to the "mercy and truth"
-
Sound wisdom = what's stable
22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
-
Neck beginning the weak part of the body
-
The neck shall be healing to thy flesh; and
refreshing to thy bones.
-
Christ is our way, our rest
23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not
stumble.

Wisdom let's you protect your home
24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie
down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

When you have wisdom, you will have peace of
mind
-
Because you're not going out to do evil works,
you know better
25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the
wicked, when it cometh.

God has gave you power over Satan and your
enemies
-
Satan is a dead man walking
26 For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from
being taken.
-
God's word is true, in all thy ways
27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the
power of thine hand to do it.
-
Have a contract and keep peace, without a
contract, someone will try to rip you off
28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will
give; when thou hast it by thee.
-
Do it today, If you can help someone, help him,
don't wait for another day
29 Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by
thee.
-
A good neighbor will help watch over you.
30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
-
Don't go out and start trouble, be good too all
peoples.. if he doing right
31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.
-
Don't go out and be like a crooked person
-
Oppressor = the man of violence
32 For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with
the righteous.
-
If your doing good, God's going to show you His
secret counsel.
-
4th trumpet =
Forward = those who turn aside = teaching or doing abomination in
God's Church
-
What is sealed up from all save those to whom He
reveals it to.
33 The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth
the habitation of the just.
-
Wicked = lawless one = Satan's ways
-
Blessed are those that followed God
34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.
-
Those that mock God's word
35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of
fools.
-
Fools won't hear God's word, they're to busy,
trying to rip off someone.
-
The wise shall inherit glory, but a fool is
piling up disgrace.
