Proverbs 4:1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
  • Know understanding = learn discernment
  • Instruction = Correction or admonition
2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
  • God's doctrine is good; His law is good.
  • It is man that is bad.
  • Make sure you accept His instruction, and be blessed.
3 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
  • It is simple. Keep God's commandments the best you can.
  • Repent for the sins you do commit, and live eternally.
4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain My words: keep My commandments, and live.
  • Heart = mind
  • Live = What's the opposite of live? To die
  • Keep = Take heed to live: live again, in resurrection life.
  • Don't stray from the Word of God.
  • Father has your best interest at heart.
  • Why? Because He loves you. He wants what is best for you. He wants you to be successful.
5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
  • Don't fall away from God's word, don't go the ways of the world.
  • Wisdom tells you how to live, and how to be wise
6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
  • Wisdom and understanding gives you a zeal to do good.
  • Read the Song of Moses, Keep means to protect, as one protects the apple of one's eye
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
  • Wisdom is the first thing you need, too be wise
  • Understanding = common sense
8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
  • When you have a zeal to do good, Father will strengthen you and bless your work.
  • You will get ahead in life.
  • And even more importantly, you will be building treasure in heaven.
9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
  • That is a promise of longevity from God, if you will listen to His Word.
  • You must be a hearer and a doer.
  • As you get older, God will give you more wisdom, If you seek for wisdom
  • Deliver = deliver fully and freely
  • If you have wisdom, all things come to you
10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
  • The years of thy life shall be many = You shall grow greater through the years of thy life with wisdom
11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
  • Quite frankly, a zeal to do good brings eternal life.
  • Taught = directed
12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
  • Seek and find wisdom, Wisdom brings you life
14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
  • Don't do as the wicked, follow God's commandments
15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
  • They get their joys by hurting people, by violence
17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
  • Wickedness = lawlessness
  • Men teach, its oaky to beat your wife, to control her, this is how they get their joy
  • Violence = obtained by violence = They live to hurt people and do evil
18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
  • Marking the contrast between the growth of wickedness
  • And the growth of wisdom leading in right paths.
19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
  • The wicked people = the only  think about = how too hurt people = they live in darkness
  • If you live in darkness, you will fall into the pit with Satan
  • Revelation 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
  • Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
  • Keep My Words, get wisdom
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
  • Keep studying God's word
22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
  • Health = healing
23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
  • Keep wisdom with a positive heart
24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
  • Froward mouth = Don't go out and start trouble
25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
  • Go straight ahead and follow God
26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
  • Don't fall into the pit, don't do as the world
  • Satan is the prince of this earth age = don't live in darkness of this world
27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
  • Stay on the path of God, don't do as the world of darkness
  • Keep wisdom and live again
