World Court to Rule on Gaza Emergency Measures in Israel

South Africa's Minister of
Justice Ronald Lamola addresses the media near the International
Court of Justice (ICJ), on the day judges hear a request for
emergency measures by South Africa to order Israel to stop its
military actions in Gaza, in The Hague, Netherlands January 12,

The United Nations top court issued a statement on
Wednesday saying the 17 judge panel will hand down its ruling in
court on Jan. 26 at 1200 GMT.
Earlier this month, in two
days of hearings, South Africa asked the ICJ, also known as the
World Court, to order an emergency suspension of Israel's
devastating military campaign in the Palestinian enclave.
Israel dismissed the genocide allegations as grossly
distorted and said it had a right to defend itself and was
targeting Hamas militants, not Palestinian civilians.
Calls Made at Security Council to Avert Regional Escalation
Dozens of foreign ministers and senior officials from around
the globe urged a swift response to a ceasefire between Israel
and Hamas for humanitarian reasons in Gaza in a high-profile
Security Council session in New York on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Emphasizing the urgency to prevent further escalation, they

going to SNOW! For anyone who does not live in New York, or who
has never been to Western New York in the winter, that area of

is so ignorant, they must be confined to their homes until she

NATO to hold biggest drills since

BRUSSELS, Jan 18 - NATO
is launching its largest exercise since the Cold War, rehearsing
how U.S. troops could reinforce European allies in countries
bordering Russia and on the alliance's eastern flank if a
conflict were to flare up with a "near-peer" adversary.
Some 90,000 troops are due to join the
Steadfast Defender 2024 drills that will run through May, the
alliance's top commander Chris Cavoli said on Thursday.
More than 50 ships from aircraft
carriers to destroyers will take part, as well as more than 80
fighter jets, helicopters and drones and at least 1,100 combat
vehicles including 133 tanks and 533 infantry fighting vehicles,
NATO said.
